Most auto parts stores sell different size vacuum hose. Just make sure you change 1 hose at a time, so they don't get mixed up.

Van idles rough and dies when I stop runs fine when I get going

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum lines, plastic connectors, and vacuum tanks, for small cracks. Spraying lines with crab and choke cleaner will sometimes cause idle to change if cracks are present. Might be necessary to keep vehicle at slightly higher than idle speed to keep it from stalling while checking for leak.

rough idle can be caused by vacuum leak, test the lines into the intake, if the dont hold vacuum, follow the line to detect the cause. Also the PCV could be broken and lead to a wrong air mixture. If check engine light is on I would expect lean bank codes...

2007 chevy uplander running real rough, what could it be?

Vacuum Hoses
  • A loose or broken vacuum hose causes rough idling, and is the easiest repair of all. This is a very common problem since hoses wear out over time. Look in your engine compartment, and examine the hoses carefully for any signs of abrasion, breaking or loosening. Replace any damaged or broken sections of hose, available at most auto parts stores, and your rough idling will more than likely disappear.
Clogged Filters
  • Clogged filters are another common cause of rough idling. Inspect your air filter. If dirty, replace it. Also, a clogged fuel filter causes rough idling. It's hard to tell if a fuel filter is clogged or not, so a good rule of thumb is to change it at every general tune-up.

Electrical Components
  • Bad spark plugs, bad spark plug wires and a bad distributor cap are other common causes of rough idling. If it has been a while since you changed these components, do so. Most auto service centers can do this for you if you need technical expertise.
Timing Belt
  • A timing belt jumping a tooth is also a cause of rough idling. This throws off cam timing, setting in motion a series of events that prevent your engine from achieving proper timing. This is a more in-depth repair and, if needed, should be referred to a qualified auto mechanic.

Hi, Guy! My 95 Bronco runs a little rough whenever one of the vacuum lines gets broken or disconnected. Because of the age, these plastic lines get brittle and break easily. Check them all. You might also want to look at your engine's dampener (behind the engine's main pulley). Sometimes the dampener becomes detached from the pulley and causes the engine to vibrate.

Engine idles rough at stops and in park is it idiling sensor or something

This could be a lot of things. There is no 'sensor' but there is an IAC (idle control valve) that lets air into the engine when you aren't using the throttle. But, when this part goes bad your engine usually will idle really high or not at all. You could have a slight misfire or broken/worn engine/transmission mount. A tune-up could eliminate maintainence caused problems. You should replace the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, PCV valve, and run a good injector cleaner through like Chevron Techron or Valvoline Synpower. If this doesn't solve your rough idle, then you likely have a broken mount somewhere.

My 1990 chevy pickup runs rough on idle if punch the gas it clears up but goes back to running rough it also does it when driving. i have changed the fuel filter/plugs/cap/router/modgual/o2 sensor/

Sounds like a vacuum line is off or cracked. As they age they become brittle an fall off or crack. Causes too much and the engine will run rough. as you increase the throttle the vacuum falls off and the air leak is meaning less. In other words vacuum is highest at idle and the leak will do it's worst.... Check any near hot areas or where there is movement....

Idle is too low, car dies, engine runs fine

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The car computer or ECM (electronic control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the IAC motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air.
An IAC motor is highly susceptible to carbon and coking build up; if an IAC goes too long without cleaning it can cause stalling and poor idle quality. Some cars are designed with a large vacuum transfer hose that connects the intake manifold to the IAC (idle air control) motor. If a broken or dilapidated these vacuum lines can cause the engine to lose vacuum which will allow the engine to run rough and die.
Inspect all engine and accessory vacuum lines to look for missing, torn or dilapidated lines and replace as needed. To check the IAC motor remove the unit, with the wires connected turn the key to the "on" position without starting the engine, the IAC should move in or out.
If the IAC motor does nothing it has probably failed, replace it with a new unit and recheck system. Note: while the IAC motor is removed clean (use aerosol carburetor cleaner) the passages the IAC uses to control idle air speed.

Good luck and hope this helps
