Located under the hood on driver side beside the shock tower. Should be 2 blacck boxes attacthed to the fire wall. Switch the two fuses and try starting your car. 17.00 at autozone

Disconnect plug at pump and put led test light across plug and check for a cicuit (using this method checks for power and earth circuits at same time) if there is a curcuit pump is shot,if no circiut you need to check to see which side is missing,no power check connections and fuses/relays,no earth check connections may be a kill switch aswell

How to locate and check fuel pump on 03 ford ranger edge Fx4 4.0

Locating the fuel pump is easy, it's in the fuel tank. Testing it however, is a different story. To test it "by the book" requires a scanner that can access and run "Output Test Mode" diagnostics on your engine computer, a fuel pressure gauge, and a digital volt-ohm meter.

If your engine will not start and run, you can do this to see if maybe it is the fuel pump:
First pull one of the spark plug wires to see if you have spark while someone cranks the engine for you. If there is spark, continue with these instructions. If there is no spark, close this thread out and start a new one for "2003 Ford ranger has no spark" Be sure and say also which engine your Ranger is equipped with.

Find the fuel pump relay in the under-hood fuse and relay center. The lid on the fuse box only has numbers. Your owners manual will tell you which number is the fuel pump relay. Feel the relay with your fingers while someone turns the ignition switch to the "run" position. You should feel the relay "click" then about 2 seconds later, you should feel it click again. If this is doing this, then chances are that your fuel pump is bad. (we are assuming here that you had spark above.) This is not a complete or "foolproof" test by any means, but it is probably 85% accurate for "Cranks, Won't Start" problems.

How to tell if a fuel pump is bad

you wont have fuel pressure at the engine fuel line, and you won't hear it pumping in the tank.that is the power to it is good via fuse etc.

Fuel is not getting through to engine and i changed the fuel pump but nothing

Did you change the fuel filter? Or maybe clogged injectors.

Fuel is not flowing to engine, changed fuel filter but still not running.

Did the engine just quit going down the road? or was it parked and then would not start? Did it have fuel before you replaced the filter? Did you check all the fuses in the fuse box. I think 2 of the fuses is marked ECM, check both Fuel pump relay? swap it with another relay in the fuse box. You should hear the pump come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on, do you? If not as you are cranking the engine have someone rap on the bottom of the fuel tank with a mallet or block of wood, or hammer and see of the pump will run. If that gets it running, the pump is bad and will need replacement.

No fuel

I come to find out,the fuel command is controlled by the computer, due to corrosion in the internals, it is not telling the fuel pump to turn on,so in turn, I run a switch to the power side of the fuell pump, it works, but the weird thing is, you only need the power on to start the truck, after its running, you can shut the switch off, it stays running, shut it off, you need to turn the power on to make it start pumping again, now who can explain this??
