Here's a great way to be sure. Go to www.acdelco.com and enter your vehicle info. It will then give you different options of plugs and tell the difference in competitors.

wanted to follow up. the parts store did not sell us the wrong plugs. they sold us the plugs that apply to our car. we were hearing a loud clacking sound after replacing them that was not there before. we compared the bosch plugs that were in it with the ac delco and the ac delco were 1/8 of an inch longer. we installed new bosch plugs instead and still had a noise issue. finally went away but my husband decided to check the oil before he test drove and found the oil 1 qt too full. i will be kicking some major but when i get to work on monday as i am a service manager and our lube tech changed my daughters oil about a month ago. too much oil can cause a rod knock too. thanks for the quick response.

You are correct, it can also cause internal damage, such as early oil pump failure or valve damage. Good luck.

One qt. over should not have hurt the engine. Sounds like a carbon knock and they will go away as a rod knocking will not. Funny is never knocked before you put the correct plugs in. These motors are bad for the intake gaskets leaking coolant into the crankcase too. Never use a fram oil filter on a gm engine.

What would the gap be for ngk plugs in a 99chev 5.7L

Use the spark plugs recommended for your engine, and NGK's are not the factory emission spark plugs. Dont let some part stores sell you something other than A/C Delco spark plugs. I have seen way way to many problems with "spark plugs they sold me", or "longer life spark plugs", causing problems.

Size battery fits car

parts store can give you the size you need from whatever brand they may carry..but a word on batteries..AC delco makes most car batteries along with national gould, a subsidiary of johnson controls..and there is interstate(which I personally dont care for).. now AC delco makes batteries for almost all the parts stores like autozone, advance and napa ..carquest usually carries the national gould ones as do most farm and home stores..walmart and such have AC delco batteries..all are ok..but most AC delco batteries last much longer and have more power than the others..you should be fine with one from autozone..but I would go with one a bit more powerful than what is called for..higher cold cranking power..my dadused to sell vx-6.. a liquid cadmium battery additive that was added into the electrolyte so it boosted the batterys' power and mechanical life in some cases over 150%..he taught me which battery types to stay away from..interstae was on the top of that list..his reason, they used recycled lead plates in new cases and sold them as new batteries..

I have a 99 grand am SE 2.4 4 cylinder and my problem #2 misfire, repalced spark plugs with AC delco rapid fires, replaced coil packs, replaced coil pack housing, changed spark plug boots, had ignition...

A misfire doesn't always have to be ignition... it's just the most common cause. Faulty or plugged injector, low compression. You need to check fuel pressure and test the fuel injector flow. Then check compression. If you don't have tools for these tests, take it to someone who does. Testing is much cheaper than throwing parts at the problem.

What do these trouble codes mean po306 cyclinder misfire detected .how do i fix the problem?

it means you have a misfire on the number 6 cylinder

this could be caused by a whole lot of reasons.

start by inspecting for a bad plug wire if it has them

check for fire on the cylinder with a spark test tool from local part store

if it is a coil-on-plug set-up, check the coil for fire

replace coil/plug wire as needed, replace boot on coil if coil needed, replace spark plugs

Overheading 99 deville

The fans don't kick in until around 225 degrees.

As for the overheating, Check for coolant flow at the Purge line, this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

Regarding the misfiring, have you changed your spark plug cables?

VERY IMPORTANT....only use AC Delco spark plugs and wires.

Spark plugs ....AC Delco part number 41950

Plug wires....AC Delco part number 748Q

Ignition problems are common if you use anything other than the above OEM parts.
