You need to check the fuel pressure when this happens to rule out the fuel pump. What about the ignition module. Have you changed that. If its idling rough you need to ohm the injectors and if possible look at the spray pattern. It should be conical with no dripping or spitting. Both injectors should be about 15 ohms or at least the same plus or minus 2. Get the specs to be sure. Also you may have a weak coil. All these things can cause this problem

Rough idle chevy 350

Have you checked/replaced the O2 sensor(s). They produce the data that your computer reads. Bad/clogged O2 sensors will trick the ECU into running lean/rich.

Check the CO/Temp sensor in the exhaust manifold. It may tell the ECU that the engine is hot when it is cold or cold when hot, getting the mixture wrong.

Car starts and idols great but cuts out and dies when I give it gas, like it's flooded. Already changed fuel pump skreen and fuel filter. Air, fuel mixure?

  • too high fuel pressure. 30 ok 60 bad. PSI
  • leaking injectors
  • ECU injector driver shorted, turning on injectors full time
  • injector drive wire shorted to ground bad wiring.
  • ECT stuck at -40F (alaska temperature) USE a SCAN tool.
  • MAP sensor vacuum hose/pipe clogged (ECU thinks your are going up hill all the time and floods.
  • The scan tool can check each , but not fuel pressure.

that is a start,

1990 Buick Regal 3.1 has rough idle, hesitates and dies when accelerating.

A lot of new parts! Have a compression test done to gauge the engine's internal condition, and go from there. If compression is good on all 6 cylinders, scan for trouble codes. The compression test may find your problem, something like an exhaust valve burned or not seating properly.

I am having a fuel system issue, 1988 Dodge Dakota, 3.9l, 5spd manual

may not be a fuel issue. maybe senor problem. first check the map sensor and make sure you have good engine vacuum going to the map sensor.if the map test good , check the tps voltage.

I have a 1990 hyundai excel that idles irratic when I first shift into drive in the morning, sometimes stalls when I hit the gas. Problem seems to go away as car warms up. Timmings good, compressions good,...

Without actually inspecting/looking at the vehicle, the problem sounds like it's the Throttle position sensor (TPS). Before buying this component, you need to 'bench-test' it to be sure. The TPS is merely a potentiometer (variable resistor - POT) with center tap and two wiper plates (when the throttle is fully closed, the resistance in TPS A is at maximum and in TPS B is at minimum. When the throttle is wide open (W.O.T. - wide open throttle, the resistances of 'A' and 'B' circuits are opposite each other - A minimum and B maximum). The computer (Engine Control Unit - ECU) uses/monitors these signals to adjust/manage the fuel map (fuel trims). Using an analog Ohm Meter, you can test the TPS (or contact someone who knows how), to check for bad spots (erratic resistance changes) in the POT. If the POT is bad, you'll most probably find the problem where the POT is in/near the "IDLE" position... since that's where you mentioned sometimes 'stalls' when you hit the gas.
