Why wont my key turn on 2002 chevy impala I need a diagram of swich

If the steering wheel is lock, try holding the steering wheel right in the middle while you jiggle the key, the sweet spot is the mid point, now i get the steering wheel is locked but it still moves a little bit, and press the brake pedal,at the same time, 1=transmission in park. 2=steering wheel in mid point,.3=depressed brake pedal 4=wriggle the key all the way back then go forward..as far as wiring, bypass well i dont wanna teach nobody how to steal a car, gm its got wiring schematics on line.

My key won't turn in my 04 impala . New battery

Battery has nothing to do with it... Chevy never made that right with the Impala's.... In time any key will start it... Replace the ignition...until then.... Jiggle key up and down side to side until u hit that sweet spot.... Have lots of patience......

what you described is symptoms of a bad ignition switch, when you are moving the key around to find a good spot it is internally moving the contacts until they catch a good spot, this happens when they get worn.

IF YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS, THERE IS A RELAY BEHIND RIGHT CENTER OF DASH THAT MAY BE INVOLVED. THE COLOR OF THE 4 WIRES ON THE RELAY ARE AS FOLLOWS.

2 WIRES ---- TAN WITH WHITE STRIPE

1 WIRE ----- LIGHT GREEN WITH YELLOW STRIPE

1 WIRE ----- BROWN
ALSO CHECK ALL FUSES WITH A GOOD FUSE TESTER & EXAMINE THE LIGHT SWITCH SOCKET FOR ANY BURNED OR BAD CONNECTIONS. GOOD LUCK DR. VOLT.

I turn the key on the truck and it does not start but it has power and i changed the cluch swich

not the clutch switch the truck is not reading your key, you have a passlock II secruity system on this truck and it will not run without reading the key.

When i turn the key the truck does not start i changed the cluch swich and still nothing

1. does the security light blick when key is put into ignition.
2. does it go off when you turn the truck over.
3. have you had an aftermarket alarm keyless entry or remote starter installed recently.

sounds to me like your truck is not reading your key.

If your are turning the wheel to the "sweet spot" like you said, and you are using the right key, do you have a second key that still won't work? Then ignition lock tumblers are worn. You or dealer has to fix.

Car doesnt start

Did you check to see if your old starter was any good, you may have a bad spot on your fly wheel and it is getting caught up on the bad spot and it want start try turning your fly wheel of the bad spot and then try to start it.

Moving the steering wheel will allow the car to start

You need to remove the stater and get the worn contacts replaced. When you turn the key to start, and you get "one click", that is the starter solenoid engaging, but not transferring battery power to the starter motor windings. This is a very common issue. Don't believe the post about the neutral switch, you will get NO sound form the starter with a bad neutral switch. Here is the real deal: I am a Toyota Service Manager. I know exactly what your problem is, the "other posters" have nowhere near my experience with this issue. Trust me. If you remove the starter and get the contacts replaced, you will be fine.
