Floppy rear wiper arm on 1999 peugeot 206

The rear wiper arm on my peugeot 206 just flops down vertically on to my reg plate.

The motor works fine but when the arm tries to wipe the rear window it just falls straight down vertically and can't pull itself up again.

Do I need to replace the wiper arm or could it be that the splines have rounded off where the arm is joined to the motor nut?

If they've rounded off what's the best solution to fix?

Many Thanks

i can't find a manual for that car... but it is likely the wiper relay and is likely located in the fuse panel near the battery in the engine compartment.

How do I fix or replace the rear wiper motor

Hello,

  1. Disconnect the cable running to the negative terminal on the car's battery. To do this, loosen the nut on the cable clamp until the clamp is loose enough for you to slide the cable clamp off the negative battery terminal.
  2. Pull the wiper arm away from the rear windshield until the wiper arm locks into a vertical or semi-vertical position or is perpendicular to the rear windshield.
  3. Remove the nut holding the wiper arm assembly to the rear wiper motor.
  4. Pull the wiper arm off the wiper motor assembly.
  5. Unplug the rear wiper motor plug/harness.
  6. Remove the screws holding the rear wiper motor to the inside of the vehicle at the base of the rear window.
  7. Pull the rear wiper motor off.
  8. Install the new wiper motor and put the wiper motor and arm assembly back on the vehicle by reversing the completed steps.

this just happened to us, the drivers side stopped working after getting tangled up with the passenger side...it was just a case of tightening up the 13mm nuts on the wiper arm.

When you can't find any fault code in ecu log then in my opinion its the wiper motor that has gone. May be motor has a broken pinion which doesn't engage the wiper arms properly and causes the problem. Buy a used wiper motor from ebay and give it a try. I hope that it'll work.
