To install:
Be careful not to gouge the aluminum surfaces when scraping the old
gasket material from the mating surfaces of the water pump and front
cover.

3.8L Engine

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
3. Loosen the drive belt tensioner, then remove the drive belts.
4. Remove the lower radiator hose.
5. Remove the lower nut on both front engine supports.
6. Remove the alternator.
7. Position a drain pan under the power steering pump.
8. Disconnect power steering pressure line from pump using a fuel line disconnect tool (T90T-9550-S), or equivalent.
9. Remove the power steering reservoir filler cap.
10. Disconnect the water bypass hose and oil cooler hose from the heater water outlet tube.
11. Remove the retaining bolt and disconnect the heater water outlet tube from the water pump.
12. Remove the A/C bracket brace.
13. Raise the engine approximately 2 inches (51mm) to provide necessary clearance for water pump removal.
14. Remove the water pump pulley.
15. Remove the drive belt tensioner form the power steering pump support.
16. Remove the power steering pump support and place the pump and support aside in the engine compartment.
17. Remove the water pump.
To install:
18. Clean all gasket mating surfaces thoroughly.
Be careful not to gouge the aluminum surfaces when scraping the old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the water pump and front cover.
19. Coat the threads of the No. 1 engine front cover stud with Teflon® pipe sealant, or equivalent.
20. Position a new water pump housing gasket on the water pump sealing surface using gasket sealant to hold the gasket in place.
21. Install the water pump and tighten bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm) and nuts to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
22. Install the power steering pump support.
23. Install the drive belt tensioner.
24. Install the water pump pulley.
25. Lower the engine.
26. Install the A/C bracket brace.
27. Connect the heater water outlet tube.
28. Connect the water bypass hose and oil cooler hose.
29. Install the power steering reservoir filler cap.
30. Connect power steering pressure line using fuel line connect tool (T90T-9550-S), or equivalent.
31. Install the alternator.
32. Install the lower nut on both front engine supports.
33. Install the lower radiator hose.
34. Install the drive belts.
35. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
36. Connect the negative battery cable.

Either your head gaskets are bad, or your radiator is bad. If there is no coolant, or muck on your oil dipstick, then it is your radiator. Replace it and your issue will cease. It's worth the expense to buy a "new" one. Used may be good for a week, a month, or 2 years; you never know.

The compressor is the same but it may have a different pulley and the plug may be indexed on the wrong side. If you have a set of snap ring pliers you can put your coil and pulley on that compressor or it may already be the same ones just make sure you put the plug where it is on your original compressor.

i fixed my windstar fuel pump problem.. fuse number 5 was blown.. replaced the fuse and all is better.. however i do hear an electrical spark when the fuel pump disengages .. (turning the key to the acc position)
