The problem is that the electronic transponder of the car does not recognize the ignition key! (When turning to off the console beeps 5 times). This is the immobilizer electronic system for theft car protection. When the ignition key is turned on, the transponder placed inside key lock hub recognizes the chip placed inside ignition key. Then the Engine Control Module (ECM) is electronically unlocked, and authorizes the start of the engine. Yours ignition key must be programmed again!

Thanks, that's further than I got. he vehicle is a 2000 Cheverolet Blazer Automatic. Is there a simple way to program the key? Or do I have to go to the dealer with my vin#? Can I manually disable the ECM so it is by-passed? Furthermore can I just remove this device all together so it does not happen in the furture?

Key remote wont work even with new batteries

The remote likely needs to be reprogramed. If you have both remotes you will need to take these to the dealer and have them reprogramed.

2002 alero key won't turn in ignition

If car is an automatic: Try making sure the shifter is totally in Park and shake the wheel a little...sometimes it's not all the way in gear or sometimes the steering wheel lock systam don't acknowlege that the key is in all the way.

If manual transmission: Make sure your clutch is fully engeaged when trying to start the car...meaning pushed all the way down with the brake on!

If none of these help...hopefully someone else can help you then....those were just some of the things I know of!

I have a 96 audi a6 and the key is now stuck in the ignition. Car starts and runs but the key will not come out. Just happened out of the blue...

I would try WD-40, spraying down beside the key with a spray nozzle on the end before I took it to a repair shop or pulled the steering wheel.
