Either it isn't leaking from the pump, or, you didn't get all the old gasket off the block, or, you somehow got a defective pump. You need to look and find the exact place the coolant is getting out.

The old gasket was not cleaned fully off. A very small peice will cause this to leak. Mechanics use 3M abrasive disc to clean off the gaskets which works fasst and clean on any small drill

If you put a long bolt where a short bolt is suppose to go what could happen for a water pump 2001 toyota corolla

The water pump might leak (externally) around that bolt. Worst case would be the bolt pokes a hole into the engine and water leaks into the oil passage.

Coolant Leak 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD 4.0L

the cooling system is a bit complex. but leaks are easy.
leaks tell you hey,IM busted fix me now.

don't burn up the engine with ignored leaks,
warping the heads is no fun or cheap... at all.
so what going on
well if you are running 50% antifreeze its good,
if running water bad,
i cant see your flood and judge that color. puddle.
the system is under 14psi pressure if cap is good.
top failure is the thermostat 7 year life is typ.

That pressure is your friend if you had looked
at the actual engine, hose and rad, with hood up
you could find the leak.
at any hose, RAD,engine block , manifolds.
Best is the get engine to 180f + normal temp
1: cold engine,
2: fill the rad(at cap off neck) full of 50% AF
cap back on. start in in PARK
3: get engine hot. 180f+ normal. means normal hot.
4: the system will go to 14psi pressure , normal.
4b: hose large feel hard, yup 14psi there.
5: now leaks happen when under pressure,(failed system)
6: we now look in all directions, of all parts seen below, top, bottom left right and under. yup , under
we then find the leak.
look for squirting,as that can make things wet that are NOT BAD. LOOK and you will find the leak
if totally confused
tow the car to a service shop, ASE rated, best.

It could be lots of things, when experienced them all one tends not to guess.
this is an inline 6, one of the more easy engine
to work on, 2.5L even more easy but is a cut down, I6
look at the head gasket seam for leaks 4 sides.
and all core plugs, in view. for leaks.

those are external leaks , internal a whole other long story.

Liken watter pomp

When coolant leaks from the water pump it means the seal and probably the bearings are worn out. The only solution is to replace the pump. The leak will continue to worsen if you ignore it. The bearing also will continue to worsen. The worse it gets the more it will leak until it leaks so much you will have trouble keeping enough coolant in the engine to drive it. Don't put off the repair.

My 1998 buick century is leaking coolant from the engine where the water pump is mounted.

it could be a loos hose clip or the water pump, there is a gasket behind the water pump this could be leaking as well there is a quick fix you could try if its a clip or gasket leaking it should stop the leak, but it wont stop a water pump leaking ,,,,,,,,,,,
get some "rad seal" and tip it into the rad,,,not the header tank it go's right into the rad then top it up with water and run up the engine itll its hot after a short time the leak should stop,,fords put it in all there new cars and vans that come out there fatctorise,, so if its good for them to use it,, it must work?

Small coolant leak at front of engine hose area, not always maybe 1 out of 5 times driving to work.

If you can narrow down where the leak is coming from, it will be easier for you to fix, but it is most likely either a minor radiator leak, or your water pump. You can put a can of radiator stop leak in your vehicle, such as bars leak. It wont hurt anything. If the leak continues, and appears to be coming from the engine area, the water pump is failing, but also check around the thermostat housing, near where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine

Coolant leaking even after installatin of new water pump

I can't tell you where your leak is because I can't see your engine...You need to take a very careful look at everything...every hose, hose connection, parting line between heads and block, between thermostat housing and engine and even at the water pump (you may not have gotten all of the old gasket off). If a good visual inspection shows nothing, you can pressure test the system and do a cylinder leakdown test and a hydrocarbon test at radiator to eliminate internal problems. Last but not least, you can have a dye test done (dye added to cooling system, leaks checked with a black light). Can the housing gasket leak? yes...but you need to check everything to determine if it is.

Overheating

If the water pump is bad it will be leaking antifreeze and you will see it dripping/running on the ground. Also, when water pumps go bad they will often...but not always...make a noise...sometimes a screeching sound. You did not mention it or that the water pump is leaking so I doubt if it is the problem. The thermostat can easily be the problem and if so is a very low cost item to replace...maybe less than ten bucks including the new gasket. Your boyfriend can install a new one easily. If that does not fix the problem of overheating then there can be many other ways the engine can be overheating. Look for a leak in the radiator. You did not mention it either so maybe that is not it.
Be sure to check all the other engine fluids...low oil...if none showing on the dipstick...can cause the engine to overheat. If you have not changed the oil and filter for the engine since forever then it is possible..but not probable...that sludge has accumulated to the point in the engine that it is overheating and even possibly causing the oil pump in the oil pan area to stop pumping oil as well as it should...but I actually doubt any of these. You could also have low transmission fluid that causes it to overheat and almost being ready to lock up causing the engine to work harder and overheating. There are many many possibilities...but the thermostat is the first thing I would do to fix it and then if it still is a problem start to look at the other areas.
