My car runs good when it's cold but stalls once it warms up? ... In this situation, you can usually re-start the engine once it has hada chance to cool back ... it'll fill-up and exits fuel right up and out the vent tube which dumps it down the middle of ...
Jun 28, 2010 - Car starts and after warmed up.. it dies! ... but if i let it sits for awhile till the engine is cool down it starts right up but after its warmed up.. it dies.
Can you tell if the engine is warming up normally ? Do you know for a fact the cooling system is full ? The compressor should not have had any effect on the cooling system other than maybe the drive belt which runs the water pump.
have a 97 crown vic,
in warm weather it idles fine and run fine
now that its cold I have to hold at high idle to have warm up
for about 10 mins.
if I just start it the engine will die with out me holding on foot on the gas
this is tough, two things I can think of, the first is the coil, if it is not ground good there wont be a good spark or a defective coil,,,, but i am leaning more to it being the timing chain jumped a cog,,, the computer would start the engine advansed but as the engine warmed it would ****** the spark ,,, after 5-10 min. it would quit,, this I would if it si a higher milage car. Tony
I would check the oil pressure of the engine. The reason is the timing chain tensioners are run with oil pressrue. I think your timing chain tensioners are leaking down when engine is getting to operating tempature . The oil is thinning down as warms up , as it should to lubercate . I would check compression and do a cylinder leak down test on all the cylinders. Then if the compression is good and the cylinder leak down is good. I would change all the timing components, ( chain, timing gears, timing chain tensioners )
take a look at the EGR valve it could be either vacum controlled or electronic either way what seems to be the problem is that the valve is stuck in the open position until the engine warms up you can gently tap the egr valve with a small hammer or a screw driver and you can see that it runs smooth, now if the egr valve is vacum controlled replace the valve. if it is electronoc controlled replace the valve and the module for the egr valve.
