According to another site, you have to pull the assembly straight back as there is a plastic clip (spear point) in the front holding the assembly on. However on my 2000 ody, I had to insert a flat head screwdriver into the point at the 'front' of the assembly and using it as a lever to pry the assembly back gently. Be very careful, if you use too much force, you could break the whole assembly.

One thing I found true for my 2000 ody, was that the brake light bulbs need to be double leads vice single lead. I purchased 7440 - single lead and discovered I needed the double lead (which may be 7443, not sure). Anyway, I am taking it to my mechanic since the book at the auto parts store listed the incorrect bulb.

How do I change the brake light bulb in my 2004 Honda odyssey

One comment - having just replaced a bulb. After you remove the two screws - the assemby will be loose, but doesn't just slide back. There is a plastic pressure fitting that will hold the assembly in place. Applying force to pull the assembly out caused me to crack the plastic panel where the two screws go. So don't do that! I found that applying a bit of pressure - via a flat tip screwdriver - between the assembly and the car body "popped" the plastic pressure fitting and allowed me to change the bulb. I was applying pressure to drive the assembly toward the rear of the car(and slightly up). Reassembly was just a matter of 1) gluing the cracked plastic back in place 2) aligning the white plastic pressure fitting into its receiver and 3) replacing the screws and covers. Hope this was helpful

How do i remove right rear lens to change brake light bulb?

Remove the two bolt covers on the rear pillar by prying on the bottom edge with a flat-tip screwdriver.
Remove the bolts with a Phillips head screwdriver, and remove the light assembly from the rear pillar.
Determine which of the two bulbs is burned out: turn signal or brake/taillight.
Remove the socket by turning it one-quarter turn counterclockwise.
Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out of its socket.
Push the new bulb straight into the socket until it bottoms.
Test the lights to make sure the new bulb is working.
Put the socket back into the light assembly, and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
Install the rear light assembly in the rear pillar. Tighten the two bolts. Snap the bolt covers into position.

Hope this helps you.

Chang brakelights on a sebrig

  1. Open the trunk by using the driver's side trunk release latch or by manually unlocking it.
  2. Peel back the trunk liner to expose the wiring connector and taillight housing plastic retainers.
  3. Disconnect the wiring connector, loosen the plastic retainers and remove the taillight assembly from the car.
  4. Twist the turn signal bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the taillight assembly. Then, pull the malfunctioning bulb straight out of the socket.
  5. Insert the replacement bulb directly into the empty socket and then twist the socket back into the taillight assembly.
  6. Reinstall the tail light assembly.
  7. Activate the turn signal to make sure it's working. If it lights up, fasten the trunk lining back into place and close the trunk

2005 Honda Odyssey brake light housing removal

Yes, there is a spear point style clip that is holding the assembly. Wrap a flat blade screwdriver with some masking tape (prevents paint scratches) and pry between the forward outboard corner of the brake light housing and the car body. You want to pry the assembly rearward.

Changing brake light for 2000 Honda Odyssey

I believe that light is accessed through the inside of the trunk.Remove the carpet from the back of the light housing & you will most likely find a bunch of plastic wing nuts that hold the taillight assembly on,remove them & push the housing out carefully, then the light bulb just twists out.

Its all one assembly. The lens is part of a total taillight housing that does not come apart. Look for the replacement procedure on this site.
