Question about 2008 Hyundai Sonata
Hi I have a Hyunda Sonata Gold.. The problem is that when the Air conditioner (ac) is on and when it is on If I move steering to right or left then there is a continuous whining/ chrich-chrich-chrich sound... If I don't move power steering there is no noise even if ac is On. Now If the ac is off and if I move power steering there is no noise. So the noise comes only when ac is on and that also when while in ac on I move power steering.... If ac is on and I dont touch steering noise will not come... I have changed the Timing Belts Alternator fan belt and the Power steering belt ... I have got the ac compresor serviced and oiled... Is this noise from alternator fan belt slipping noise? Please help urgently...

Tighten, your need to tighten the power steering belt a lil bit more, not to much to stretch it but just enough to overcome the resistance of the pump

Loose fan belt probably.

SOURCE: Power Steering Noise
use what the manual suggest to use. it should be standard power steering fluid. do not use ATF. ATF is automatic transission fluid.
you only use this if the manual says to usually only on a merzades.
the wining noise could be the pump breaking it's self in. it will do this for a while untilt he pump is completley broke in and is used to the being used.

Check and make sure that your power steering fluid is topped off. Could possibly problems with your power steering pump. Mine does the same and the fluid is full. I just keep an eye/ear on it. If it continues to get worse than it could be the pump going out. If the fluid is allowed to get too low, it could possibly get air in it affecting both the "feel" of the steering and making a noise.

I had the same problem at about the same mileage. Replaced the power steering pump and the start up screaming went away! ( The Jeep's and mine!)

SOURCE: Whining noise from engine
altho new you may have a whining water pump or tensioner or it may be over tensioned.
take a long screw driver & place in on the timing cover to try to here where the noise is coming from, this should help you find the proplem with the car

The belt is almost assuredly to tight and needs to be loosened just a hair. It is hard sometimes to get the tension just right. Try looseneing it a bit and hopefully that will help. I have had the same problem in the past.
