Question about 2004 Subaru Outback
I am looking at replacing the engine on my Subaru rand wagon 96 (same as the Outback). I have found an engine from 1995 Subaru 250T. Both the engines are EJ25, however I am not sure whether the 250T engine will bolt strait into the engine cavity of the GW. Can someone please help me, so I can make a decision whether to buy this from an online auction.
I am a Subaru master technician, and in my experience, any EJ engine will bolt up to any EJ transmission. I have swapped an engine from a '95 legacy into a '93 impreza. You just have to use all of the bolt on items that came with the car that the engine is going into. Make sure you watch out for exhaust port/manifold design, and intake manifold and EGR pipe design. You might end up swapping an EGR engine into a non EGR car. But as far as the engine block goes, it will bolt up as long as engine code matches as stated earlier.
