Trying to disasemble tran can't get pump off is there a hidden bolt or something

It is probably just a small c-clip.

Engine needs to be removed need instructions


Disconnect and remove the battery, drain the cooling system and remove the radiator, to insure it doesn't get damaged and to afford more working space.Drain the engine oil and remove the alternator and power steering pump (if equipped) Disconnect all electrical connection and,using masking tape, tag all connectors for the reinstall process, same with the vacuum hoses, and secure them out of the way. Disconnect and plug the fuel lines and throttle cables, securing them away. Disconnect the exhaust head pipe, torque converter bolts and transmission bell housing bolts. As the engine in the pic shows, the motor mount does not connect to the trans so you will have to support the trans (or remove it with the engine and separate it later) Using an engine support fixture and engine cradle, slightly lift the engine a little to remove the engine weight from the mounts, remove the mounts, pull (or pry if necessary) the engine away from the trans, and raise the engine till it clears the engine bay. Make sure you have disconnected the hidden ground wires usually located on the firewall side of the block. Good luck

Shifter has fallon down, it seems the attachement is broken/manual trans


There is usually a bolt that connects the shifter rod to the shifter link directly underneath the car (sometimes it is hidden by a heat sheild). It has probably either rusted out and snapped or the nut came off and the bolt finally came out too. It's just a matter of getting the perfect size bolt and nut to replace it (with a lot of grease.)

1985 rx7 clutch change im trying to get it down but seems that something is holding it from the top,maybe the clutch pump?


Check to see if you missed a bolt first. What I have run in to often, is the input shaft gets stuck in the pilot bearing. Raise the trans as far as you can and release toe jack as low as you can a few times. Also try moving the whole trans side to side as far as you can and the shaft will work itself loose. You can also carefyully slip a pry bar in between the flanges on each side and pull both together and some times that wiill pop it out. When you make the final pull try to have the trans with an imaginaty line with the engine crank shaft if both are aligned it should come right out.

Hi,



Here is how you do it step by step;

STEP 1. Loosen the bolts on the water pump flywheel then remove the belt.

STEP 2. Take a oil-pan length 2x4 and use it in betwen jack and oil pan and jack up engine almost so that steering pump fluid cover on top side almost hits cross bar.

STEP 3 Remove the center bolt of the motor mount holding the two halves of the mount together.


STEP 4 Remove two bolts and one nut on the engine side mount. Remove 4 bolts (2 on top and two hidden on side) of the bolts holding the mount to the frame.


STEP 5. Now take a big 2x4 and wedge it so as to move the engine to the driver side of the compartment. At the same time rotate and move the mount piece on the engine side rotating about the stud [that the nut came off of]so as to paritally split apart the two mount halves. You'll see that you can now get at the two hidden bolts.


SEP 6. Remove the water pump pulley wheel. There are a bunch of small and little bolts in the water pump...some on bottom side.


STEP 7 Remove them and old pump and Scrape off old gasket.




STEP 8. Apply new gasket and sealer to new pump and reverse order to install.

How change clutch kit , is there anything special i need to know? i removed all the bolts , mounts , etc. and the transmission doesnt come off


look for hidden bolts going from the engine side to the trans, usually on the firewall side, you will need a mirror and light to spot it

How do i install a clutch on a 1990 laser?


You need to get a manual. Try the Haynes manual for your car. Try autozone; generally available for around $20. This is not the type of thing that can be covered here in enought detail to do you any good.
Basics are;
disconect the negative battery cable, set parking brake
locate the trans mounting bolts
get something to support the engine and something to support the trans
seperate the trans from the motor by removing the bolts. On transverse mounted engines you will probably have to pull the trans to get enough room to remove the clutch and you'll probably have to remove the 1/2 shaft axles (front wheel cars) or drive shaft (rear wheel drive cars)
If replacing the entire clutc assembly (pressure plate, flywheel, and clutch), loosen the pressure plate mounting bolts gradually working your way around the pressure plate. If only replacing the clutch then seperate the sperate the pressure plate from the flywheel and remobe. Align clutch with a clutch allignment tools and replace pressure plate. Torque bolts to spec. reconnect the trans to the motor. Few other things to think about. You should replace the throwout bearng when doing a clutch. Lube the clutch fork as directed without getting lub on the clutch face. Hopefully I have convinced yu to get a manual or you will be hating life if you take this on without it.

Cant remove power steering pump.


Check for any hidden mounting bolts. There may be a rear mounting bolt. Make sure you have removed all mounting bolts. Recommend buying a Chilton's manual from Autozone.

simple!!!!!! pull the old one out and install the new one reverse of the disasembly. if that is to hard take it to a mechanic. besides that the water pump is on the opposite side of the timeing belt. the timeing belt doesnt cover any of the bolts for the water pump.
