Not really iam sorry to say ,although i am at a bit of a loss as to what you refer to a fuel pump screw ?? their is a throttle idle screw and a max throttle screw which have a lead seal on them ,also another for the antistall ,(rotary injection pump) So any adjusting screw that actually goes into the pump would need a specialist repair shop to reset and the pump would need to be removed from the vehicle for this. But if it was just the idle or max throttle then this can be reset with no problem, but i would need more information to be able to advise .

The screw I am asking about controls the amount of diesel that is supplied to the injectors. I am not sure what the name is but I do know when I turboed my diesel hilux the same screw had to be wound out to ensure that the engine did not run too lean. So I am guessing it is some kind of mixture screw.

unless this is a common rail system then that would be different but if its an injection pump of the rotary type which i suspect either a lucas or a bosch then their is no adjustment for the mixture ,their was on an old inline pump from 40 yrs ago but that was another thing and no one is interested in my dinasaur stories ,so if your having problems with getting the fuel through and the losing power then you could have a completely different problem like the the fuel filter blocked or a problem with white /clear crystals in the fuel filter that end up collapsing the fuel filter and then getting into the pump and causing havoc. This is caused by bio fuel and or cooking oil being used in the system .If the screw on top of the pump at the front that has a cable from a electric motor running to it ,then this is the antistall device and the manual stop ,now that screw should be about 1cm of thread showing between the two levers .

Hi! Theres no particular torque setting on tightening the fuel pump. But you can use a loctite to secure the screw if you have doubt. By using loctite it can secure the screw preventing it not to move. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Sorry my explanation was not very clear the fuel screw that controls fuel to the the engine is located on the injector pump. they should have a lock tag on them and just noticed mine does not and has been a little smokey lately. When I checked the fuel pump I noticed the locking screw and fuel adjustment screw was loose. I am chasing the amount of turns I should reset the screw at . hope this is more clear thanks for your reply.

Fuel economy HJ75 landcruiser ute 1989 with turbo

Check that the intercooler is in good condition (no cracks or leaks) and the hoses are tight at the hose clamps . Next talk to a diesel pump repair specialist as you may have to re-tip the injectors and re-calibrate the pump for the extra air that the turbo produces. Check that you have the correct turbo for the diesel

How to bleed a diesel bus engine

there will be a small hand pump either on the diesel pump or on the filter. bleed the filter out first and then open the bleed screws on the pump and pump until you get straight fuel., The pump may requiring unscrewing the handle/knob first so that you can move it up and down to pump. When finished remember to re screw it back down. crack the injector lines and turn engine over until you get drips of fuel from the nuts. continue to turn over the engine while tightening the nuts and it should start before you have finished with the nuts.

Landcruiser early 80 turbo diesel wont start

Presuming it is swinging (starter turning engine) and the glow plugs are working well and diesel is clean, the other alternatives are a drop in fuel pressure through the injectors which is necessary to ignite the diesel, or engine compression. If the compression is too low the diesel will not ignite. Test the injectors and compression across al cylinders. Being a turbo the compression si already lowered and the slightest drop will have an effect. Happy hunting.

ATT.NET7.3 POWERSTROKE WONT IDLE 99 MODEL

According to my Haynes Diesel Engine Repair manual this is a list of possible causes.
1.Slow idle incorrectly adjusted
2.Fast idle is inoperative
3.Restricted fuel return system
4.Glow plugs turn off too soon
5.Insufficient fuel suuply to injector pump
6.Injector pump malfunction
7.Incorrect, contaminated or poor quality fuel
8.Air in fuel.
The manual is part number 10330 anywhere they sell Haynes manuals ($20). It has a very good section on the 7.3 especially if you don't want to spend money at a diesel shop every time it needs work. Hope this helps.

After replacing fuel pump and filt truck wont start with started fuid

If this is a diesel you should not use starter fluid unless the glow plugs and glow plug controller is removed. If this is a diesel you most likely have air in the fuel system. When changing fuel filter on a diesel fill the filter container with clean diesel, screw the top of the fuel filter canister on open the bleed screw and turn the engine over until only clear fuel (no air bubbles)is bled from fuel system. Then you may have to turn loose the connector on the innjectors to bleed more air out of the fuel system.
