Question about 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

1 Answer

My mother was backing out of the garage and took the passenger side mirror off of it's stand. She then put it back on and now the electric folding mirror wont fold. I can't figure out how to pull the mirror back off to check it out. What do I do?

You have to remove the interior door trim to remove the mirror

most likely either a cut wire inside the door or inside the mirror

I have a lhd grand cherokee and ive lost positive feed to passenger side electric windows and folding door mirror checked fuses no fuse for electric windows

There is only one fuse for all power window and power mirror operation (Fuse 12 (50A) in under hood fuse panel). If the passenger side window and mirror functions are not working, and you have verified that there is no power going to the passenger door module (pin 1 of C1 connector), then there is a wiring issue in the harness.

2007 passenger folding mirror will not work

{: ) Have someone control the power fold buttons, while you check closely the passenger mirror. If you can feel or hear even a faint hum of the motor while commanded, try giving it a little help, but don't force it if you think it doesn't have enough power to extend or retract itself. The motor could be really stuck or inoperative.
Sometimes when the mirror has been accidentally or manually folded, it needs to be reset by just pressing on the fold buttons a few rounds and let the mirrors fold by itself. Like an exercise.
If you hear the humming noise whenever the fold buttons are pressed, we can assume that the circuit on that side is ok since it is responding electrically, and that a jammed or stuck mechanism is preventing it to move.
If you don't feel or hear any humming, as in totally no sign of response, then there will be additional considerations before deciding to go for a replacement mirror. You will need to confirm if the fault is on the wirings, a door module, or the mirror motor itself. A scan tool test may be recommended for effective diagnosis.
The power fold mirror can be serviced as an assembly. So, goodluck.

Passenger mirror not folding in

Grab the passenger mirror with both hands. Fold the mirror all the way forward, all the way back and then back to the home position. Sometimes the mirror will get off track if it has been bumped or moved out of place manually.

Don´t despair, it´s a nice car you got there. If it´s still under warranty, it´s probably best just to take it in for a brand repair. You probably have a short circuit within the mirror casing, with a plus cable touching the metal body work. If you take the mirror off by gently pulling it with the help of a plastic ruler, you would probably find the culprit.

Electric mirrors (both sides) not returning to central position but folding all the way in/out. Is this something I can repair or fix myself?

Hello. You may or you may not have a repair to make. Let me explain. What you may be experiencing is a feature whereby you can fold the mirror in when in a tight spot. This function only occurs when the rocker switch is set in the middle, as opposed to the left which then allows you to control the driver's side mirror or the right which allows you to control the passenger side mirror. Try putting that power mirror rocker switch in different positions and see what happens, you can't break it.
That said, if indeed you can't get the power mirrors to behave properly then you will have to replace that rocker switch. Regards, Joe

Installing a Nissan Sentra Passenger Side Manual Non Folding Mirror.

had to install a driver side non folding mirror, fairly simply to say the least. There's a cover on the interior of the door, near the window, remove the cover, remove the 3 screws, need i believe a 10mm socket. If a power window, unhook the circuit. Replace new mirror.
