May be low on oil, over-due oil change, low oil pressure, worn/weak valve springs, defective hydraulic lifters, or a leak at the exhaust manifold.

If motor is making a ticking noise, what can be done?

It is normal for engines to develop ticking noises as they age. The valve lifters are usually hydraulic and can change ability to hold fluid as tight as when new, cams and cam followers can wear down. The cost to remedy a slight tick is not worth it.

Ticking behind glovebox

Does it sound like the noise the turn signal makes? Does the noise change if you change the speed of the blower motor? Do all the function of the heater work (defrost, vent, floor, recirculate, fresh air, hot, cold)?

How do i fix a ticking noise in a 3800 motor

Its your valves that are making those ticks, check the level of your oil and add if necessary, if this does not help you will need to get a valve job done and possibly a complete top engine rebuild. You can eliminate some of this noise by additives that will give your oil stability and the engine some extra time. Check with your local parts store or mechanics shop

I notice my oil was low, cause it was running a little rough. So I put a quart in. Then it was running better. Then I drove it the next day and it started making a ticking noise and now it is getting...

the ticking , if you hear it on the top of the motor, will be a rocker arm,, it could be plugged and not getting oil, if its coming from lower down in the motor, it is possibly a stuck valve,, or a rod bearing , if its a ticking noise its more than likely the rocker assembly,, if its more of a knocking noise its lower in the motor
