There should be a fault code in the engine computers memory for the problem, have it tested. You can also do the test yourself, go to the link

1988 Chevy S10 cranks fine but when driving down road when you go to shift into second it starts bogging down and cuts off.

thinking maybe the neutral safety switch may have a short in it or be broken...also check emissions vacuum equipment for leaks under load..now Im thinking there is an electric interlock (on manual transmission models that was make into the clutch pedal also) check this for proper operation..repost findings please..

Vehicle cut off going down the road. The scan

Check the mass air flow sensor. Unplug it, then try to start the engine. If it starts and runs ok replace the sensor. Make sure the wiring is good to the sensor, The wires may break inside the covering near the connector ends.

Truck cuts off going down the highway

Starter would not have anything to do with the engine once it's started & running. Can you give more description, as in shakes all the time, or only after driving a while? When was last tune-up as in plugs & wires done?

I would take a look at the throttle position sensor being faulty, but I can't explain why there is the only one fault code. Hope this helps. Good luck.

1987 nissan pickup (z24) acts like there is a govner.

It is your coil. One coil cuts out under load and the other one runs full time. It'll run on either coil alone just fine. Your problem is that the one that is supposed to run full time has gone bad, the other coil which is supposed to cut out under heavy load is the only coil running your car. When it cuts out, the truck wants to quit until you let off and the computer (ECU) allows it to come back on. Should be able to find a new coil for $40 bucks. Good luck.

1987 CHEVY CORVETTE CUTS OFF SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING

Could be just about anything, but given that I had the same symptoms that turned out to the fuel pump, I would check that if you haven't already. Mine would run fine for a while, particularly when it was cold, and tested fine at the shop, but after a while under load, it turned out the pressure would suddenly drop to about 15 pounds. A real pain to diagnose, since when it was in the shop it wasn't under load, so it tested OK.
