SOURCE: abs light

This is a (4) four wheel sensor system and more than likely one of them has failed. This will cause ABS module to turn on warning lamp and make the brake pedal 'act up' under the right conditions. This 'acting up' is the ABS system getting a false signal that a wheel is not turning the same as the others when it actually is. Have it scanned for codes and a streaming data scan on a road test under the same conditions that you are experiencing the 'act up' to pinpoint the fault. Hope this helps! Please rate me.

SOURCE: ABS brakes shudder

YOU NEED A SCANNER TO MONITOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE ABS IS SENSING A SKID AND THE ABS IS ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE MAY BE A CODE FOR THE HUB THAT IS CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE.

CHECK THE WIRES FROM THE SENSORS FOR BREAKS OR CHAFFING. AN OHM READING OF THE SENSOR SHOULD BE 850-1200 OHMS, AND AND A-C VOLTAGE READING SHOULD BE 100 MV WITH YOU TURNING THE WHEEL BY HAND.

SOURCE: Abs Is engaging irratically on 2002 avalanche

There is a recall on the 02 avalanche for some ABS sensor. You can get fixed if you live in a state where it snows, According to GM "The Salt-Band" type in 02 Avalanche abs recall, you will see it. Good luck!

We have new brake pads and new rotors, now abs light is on, Why

Interesting question. The ABS magnetic sensors on each wheel can get gummed up with dirt, rust and brake dust. Perhaps the brake shop did not clean the sensor properly, or worse, may have damaged one or more when the rotors are replaced. The sensor also has a tough wire up to the chassis. If this is damaged or disconnected, the ABS light will turn on.

Take it back to the shop and have them check.

Abs light turned on after replacing brakes, how do i fix?

did you replace the pads only or the pads and rotors.either way if you pushed the calipers back without opening the bleeder screws its possible that you may have push some debris into the abs system causing the system not to work when it went through its test.you can try to bleed the brake system to flush out the debris.flush the 4 wheels until the brake fluid is clean and not discolored.don`t let the master cylinder run low of brake fluid.this may fix the problem.if you replaced the rotors make sure that you received rotors for an abs system as i have gotten some that the abs ring was missing from the factory.look on the back of the rotors to see if you can see the ring.it will be attached to the rotor and has teeth on it.you should be able to do this without pulling the rotors off.if there is no ring then you received the wrong rotors or defective rotors.also make sure the abs sensors at the rings is there and not bent or damaged from replacing the brakes and that the wire plug connector is connected and not damaged.if this checks out good then you should have the code pulled to see what direction it sends you to diagnose the problem as it could be a sensor that has stopped working.

I have a 2000 blazer and my brakes quit working right so he changed the ABS unit and its still doing the same thing the brakes give out if i hold the brake for to long how can we fix this?

if it fades out not an abs problem pads and rotor may be glazed over [polished from riding brake] check pads and rotor if slippery polished over cut rotor/and replace pads ---if at low speed--almost stopping and getting an abs activation then one of the sensors is dirty or corroded and needs to be replaced low speed activation usually doesnt set off check engine light

1995 dodge neon below 10mph foot on the brakes the abs noise no light it sounds like a drinding noise

Brake pads are worn out. The ABS light would not come on because there is nothing wrong with the ABS. The grinding you are hearing are the brake pad backing plates rubbing against the rotor. You should have heard a high pitched squeal long before this happened. More than likely the rotors are now destroyed and will need replacing or at the very least turned in a machine shop. Fix this yesterday.

My Chevrolet silverado ss abs light came on?

Take the wheel off and check the brake pads, they are probably worn down, and the metal backing on the disc brake pad is rubbing against the rotor. If that is the case, the rotor will need to be replaced, or turned down if it isn't too bad.

Check for bent wheel bearing hub. Beyond that, have a runout test done on the rotors while on the vehicle.

You don't. Check all the wheel speed sensors & make sure they aren't damaged. If not, check the codes & diagnose from there.

ABS light and TC light on

Have you tried to replace the pads ? Or it can be the rotors that are worn thin and need replacement. The pads seem to be grinding agains the metal rotors.
