Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva

1 Answer

I replaced the electric window motor and now the window seems to be "off track" as it goes up at an angle and will not go all the way up. How do I adjust the tracks so that the window goes up and down properly?

Its in the track of the window you will have to go back and take the window loose the pull the window and hold it in place (I use duct tape)then roll the track to the full up position and reset the glass to it.
let me know if this helps

My driver side window goes down fine but get stuck going up. is the motor bad or the lift regulator?

Its usually the window motor itself, quite often the window tracks and channels are dry and cause the motor to work harder and eventually tire out. If it attempts to go up then quits it usually pops the circuit breaker inside the window motor because its overworking and draws to many amps (pops breaker). It will attempt to work after a few seconds when circuit breaker cools and closes again. Apply some silicone based lube to the window tracks and channels, and try the window again. If it works you will eventually need a motor. The regulator usually displays binding condition in one specific spot when window going up or down, if its always the same spot it quits then it could be binding in the regulator.

How to remove the drive side window on 96 tbird?

You have to pull the door panel, loosen the track/window framework and door opening/unlocking rods and remove the motor assembly. You then lower the track all the way down and the window is free and lifts up at an angle out through the window opening. Expect about an hour and a half to replace..

Renault scenic drivers electric window motor runs

The track guide that operates the window from the motor is damaged or has jumped track. Remove the inner door panel and operate the window and see which has happened. If it has jumped track check for missing or damaged guide retainers if it is damaged or broken replace it. Normally runs about $15 to $20 for the part. Now if the drive guide is not damaged and it is still not working the gear that drives it is damaged and you will need to replace the motor as this is pressed on and not user replaceable. Good Luck

How hard is it to change window motor on 2003 trail blazer

It's not that hard but there are parts that always break. Most dealers will call in a windshield repair shop to do this job since there more experience then the Dealer shop there self. You can have like Apple Auto Glass or Speedy Auto Glass to do the job for you which there shop rate is less then the Dealers since they will mark up the repair. But if you must remove the inside door panel to gain access to the electric motor and the window needs to be in the up position. If it's in the down position you need to disconnect the window from the window tracks and tape it up out of the way so you can get to the electric motor, Once you can get access to the electric motor, disconnect the wire harness and unbolt the motor from the door. To remove the electric motor with the track will take a few try's, it needs to wiggle out through limited space between the door frame's and then you can replace the electric motor from the track and everything goes back in revers the same way your removed and replace any clips that may have gotten damaged. Good luck and hope this helps.

Drivers window

Is this an automatic system as in one touch operation up and down? Could be a worn switch or a short in the system from the switch to the motor. Could be a relay issue. Maybe the track needs to be lubricated or the window track is bent or a part has broken and isnt allowing the window to move fluidly upward. Check the electrical contacts on the switch, relay and motor.
