Yes -- the one on the column. It seems to be getting "loose" and I want to replace it.

you will need to get a steering wheel puller kit. some auto parts stores will rent them. first thing to do is remove power connections on the battery. do both and tie them out of the way. then wait 30 min. so back up power goes away in the control module. nest you will remove the air bag. there will be screws either on the sides or in the back. remove them and the bag will lift off the wheel. there will be a yellow connector attached to the bag. remove this and always hold the bag facing away from you. so if it went off it would not hit you. don't handle it any more than necessary and set it down with the bag facing up. that way if there was static that set it off it will not launch. i have never seen one set off by static by the way. there will be a nut in the center of the wheel to remove. then find the holes in the wheel to connect the puller. if you need help with this let me know. there should be instructions with the kit. once the wheel is off you need to disconnect the clock spring. next you will see turn signal parts. might be a good idea to take a picture now. you need to put everything back the way you now see it. after the turn signal you should see the lock mounting. there will be a screw to remove that lets the lock come out. i will watch my emails for more on this good luck

I have 2001 doge dakota and left ignition on and

Not sure but you may have a radio that needs a code input. the radio thinks it was taken out and a code needs to be put back in at the proper time. if you bought the truck new it should be in oners manual. if not you have to get it from a dealer. you may have to pay for it.

1992 dodge dakota ignition switch

the mechanic should check the ignition switch, the wires, the fuses, the ignition assembly ,the rotor coil, the starter solenoid and the connection of the ignition switch to the battery . If there is a worn out or destroyed spare parts then repair or replace them .the wires , if there are loose wires or worn out wires reconnect them or replace them.the fuses if there are worn out or destroyed fuses then replace them also. These are the causes of electrical problem of truck .If these said spare parts are being checked or replace then the car problem can be solved. the truck won't start because of some electrical problem not being seen . to be checked. And don't forget the connection of the battery to the ignition system . if there is a wire loose then re connect if worn out then replace.

How to replace a ignition switch in 2001 dodge dakata

Remove the cover over the steering column. Then it is a simple matter of inserting a screwdriver to depress a locking tab while pulling the old ignition tumbler straight out using the key as a handle. Then just insert the new one...easy peasy!
