Try tracing the fuel line from the tank. Look for a connection to what looks like a tin can. If you find it, this is a primary fuel filter. These should be changed about every 50,000 miles. This filter stops all the junk from the tank from entering the fuel line. When it plugs up, it will completely stop the flow of fuel. Be sure to remove the gas cap to relieve pressure, before removing the filter. A new one cost about $15.00

First things first, you need to check your fuel pressure AND flow. If you have damaged, or kinked fuel pipes you will have good pressure, but as you load the engine up (put your foot down) your flow is insufficient and you get lean misfire/overheating/cutting out. Bridge the fuel pump relay so you can run the pump without the engine. Get a large jug, suitable for catching fuel, open the fuel supply line and put the pump side in to your jug. Run the pump for 30 seconds, so long as the jug isn't filling up too fast. You should get a minimum of 2 litres of fuel, less and you have a restriction somewhere.

ethanol gas problem. add a can of SEAFOAM to tank of Premium gas. change fuel filter after 100 miles. then add SEAFOAM 3-5000 miles to keep fuel line/system;emissions, and valves clean of ethanol goop and water which is created by this awful ethanol mixture.

Start and stop

Top candidates for this problem are:
Clogged Fuel filter
Faulty Fuel pump
Clogged fuel injectors
Dirty / worn spark plugs

Of these, only the clogged fuel injectors are likely to respond to a gas tank additive, and even then you need to get the right kind of additive.
If your fuel filter has not been changed in a while (couple years), start with this. It is fairly easy to change. The fuel filter is under the car near the the driver's side rear door.
If this problem started "suddenly," then the fuel pump might be the culprit.
Fuel injector / spark plug issues are not likely to stop the engine right away, but would tend to cause it to miss cylinders, idle rough, or start rough.

Injectors not working

ok moisture can cause problems with gas and spark. try some dri gas or something first, check the fuel filter. or somekind of timing with the injectors and the ignition switch.

Fuel isnt coming out hte injectors

ok when you turn the key on, you hear the buzzing sound in the tank? if you spray starting fluid into air intake, will the engine fire? there should be a fuel pressure port under hood on fuel rail i believe. if this is vortec style engine, injector assy under intake is possible. somewhat common. pull oil dipstick and smell for fuel. that would indicate maybe the pressure regulator has let go. ck for spark as well, just to be sure youre on the right track.

Tahoe will not start new fuel pump/w/filter

BE WARNED!!! i was a GM mechanic for years, i personally found out for myself, that many if those pumps bought from parts stores auto zone, orielly's, napa, etc... have the possibility of being bad from the factory, i once worked on a 98 silverado, the customer had replaced the pump 3 times with an auto zone pump, every time the pump would either not even start the truck or it would loose pressure within a week or two. after we installed a new GM pump he no longer had an issue, sometimes its worth it to pay a little bit more and buy a pump from a dealer, plus if you buy a GM part, it comes with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, even if you buy it over the counter and install it yourself.

1989 S10 Blazer acting like its not getting gas.

I had the same problem with my blazer and it took me to completely rebuild the throttle body and put over $300 into the top end, new filter, and it still didn't stop. I finally dropped the tank and started to go through all the proper steps to remove the new fuel pump and i found that the rubber tube from the pump filter to the intake tube had a crack down the middle of it, replaced that and it ran perfectly fine. if that's not the case make certain that you didn't accidentally switch the small fuel lines like i did.(you'll notice that EVERYTHING smells like gas and you'll have fuel draining out of the charcoal cab emissions filter). hope that helps out a little bit!
