I have a 2006 chev impala. The air conditioning cuts in and out w/o ever cooling the passenger compartment. I have charged the system with R-134. It cools for just a couple of minutes then quits. It will only cool any at all if the compartment air recirc is engaged. If this sensor related where are they located.

You could have over charged the system ?? or the operating flaps in the heater unit are not working ,find the inlet and outlet pipes for the AC where they enter the vehicle and see if one pipe is hot and the other cold ?? the big pipe should be cold and the thinner one hot

How to add refrigerant to air conditioning system

determine the type of refrigerant, conversion kits are available but not an easy job, most parts stores have refrigerant and connectors to add to your system, follow the directions on the can.

Chev Impala Air ducting leaks water to the passinger side floor compartment when it rains

Open the hood, remove 2 plastic pins & cover just below the windshield on passenger side. There should be a preformed long rubber gasket that diverts any water away from the cabin filter (regularly replaced) found underneath in the compartment & sometimes the rubber becomes dislodged when changing the cabin filter.

I have chevy impala 2002 and lately I have been hearing water sloshing (sounds like it s coming from the dashboard...), any idea what is it? and can be fixed?

Sounds like air in your heater core. That's the only place fluid comes into passenger compartment. To eliminate, make sure coolant level is filled completely or have cooling system flushed.

In my 2002 chevy impala only cools down in the passenger side but dose not on the driver side. what is wrong?

I assume that you are talking about your air conditioning. The passenger side blows cold and the drivers side is warm. I had the same problem on a couple of my cars, including my 2002 Impala.
I also assume that you know how to use the climate controls for driver vs. passenger.
You need some freon. It may not need very much... maybe 8-12 ounces.
if you're semi-skilled, you can try it yourself with a kit from the parts store. The dealer or shop will charge you at least $125 and they will look for the leak.
It sounds like you have a slow leak, and that could be tough to find.

The heater is only working on the passenger side in my 2005 impala. the driver side is blowing cold air. please help

Do you have dual zone heat and cooling controls?
If so......the drivers side air flow control unit on the heater assembly is not working.
It is mounted on the heater assembly and can usually be accessed through the glove compartment to change it.
The stepper motor on these units fails often.
This should be the problem on your car 99%...if you have a separate heat/cooling control for driver and passenger areas.

Air conditioner wont work if outside temp is over 70 97 chev pick-up it works great in temps remain cool outside any help would be helpfull.

Sounds like you are low on freon and as it gets hotter outside your AC system can't keep up. Check into getting the system charged and that should take care of it for you. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

Impala has dual climate control. AC blows cold on

with a dual climate control system, it is imperative for a proper refrigerant charge to be maintained. the symptom you describe is a possible indicator of low charge on the system. the ac evaporator core is closest to the right side of vehicle thereby making air feel cooler on that side, on the left side of the vehicle the cooled air has farther to travel and warms up from cabin air before it discharged from the vents. this is the most probable issue for your vehicle...however if the charge is accurate, the issue would be more so in the air temperature doors which is located deep inside the dash...i hope this helps...good luck!

Bring it into your nearest Chev Dealer of shop Its sounds like there is a leak in the system and it need to be checked by a Service Tech, You can buy a can of R134a and Charge it your self but 134 Never just evaporates from the system It always leaks out of a five dollar seal..
