Its highly unlikely that all 4 motors would fail at the same time, i think you should be looking at the relays and fuses to begin with.

An electric window that will not go down after being frozen

More than likely the regulator or motor were damaged when you tried to lower it. If the glass had moisture around the edges it would have frozen in the track, when you went to open the window the regulator probably broke under the strain. The motors generally are more durable but the regulators are often plastic and wire cable.

2005 Ford TAURUS SE r\nDrivers door sticks when cold outside and won't close! This morning all four windows were frozen on inside and door would not close! Please Help

Hi,
a little more clarity would be helpful, however, this info may serve in the interim period.

Open the drivers door and carefully check the door seals around the complete perimeter of the door.
If it is loow temperature when you do this, you might wish to exercise a great deal of caution. If the seal is frozen it will be brittle and breakage can occur. If you can perform this check in a fairly warm area it would be a lot easier for you.

You can speed the check by utilising a hair dryer running on max or a heat gun. The seal should be pliable all the way 'round. If the seal is undamaged, dust the seal with powdered chalk, or equivilent, then slowly close the door. Ensure that it is latched and the door edge at the pillar is not standing proud of the pillars outer surface.

Open the door and check the powdered chalk carefully. It will indicate if the door is making full contact with the seal. If the door fit is imperfect, the door lock will have to be adjusted.

You do not state the level of your experience, therefore adjusting the lock will have to be your call.

As for the frozen windows. Thaw then out, lower each to it's maximum, then spray SILICONE lube into the window channels insufficent quantity to lube the length of nthe runner / track. Also apply to the top channel.

It would also be beneficial to coat all the door seals with the same type of silicone lube, it will negate the windows and doors ability to adhere to the rubber seals.

Good luck.

Dear Madam or Sir,

you re-initialise the system by moving the window upwards and hold the button for four seconds. Then move down the window and hold the button for another four seconds. Turn ignition off , wait two seconds. Now the auto function should be operable.

Frozen power window

I just fixed a frozen up one on a 2002 Alero, I removed the door panel, unbolted the motor and it had a lot of pressure on it. When re-installed with no preload, the window worked fine. I lubed the tracks with silicone spray just to be safe.

I've seen this many times over the years on GM windows and still can't explain why it happens. Perhaps holding the switch in the up position too long/?
