Katdaddy21 is correct. Look down low by the crankshaft pulley. The belt may have to be removed to replace the sensor. Now, the CAMSHAFT position sensor is inside the distributor, at the bottom. Both sensors can be meter tested.

Solution #2 was right. The comment was not. It is inside the distributor. Some engines as stated in solution #1 are one the engine block but not this engine, it is in the distributor.

Jsut want to know where crankshaft position sensor

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

2.3L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

3.0L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located just behind the crankshaft pulley on engine block.

The cost of the sensor is $23 bucks at AutoZone.

How to set the timing on mazda mx-3 1993

first you need to remove the timing belt cover and locate the timing marks both on the camshaft timing gear and crankshaft pulley and see if the timing mark synchronzed together while manually rotating the crankshaft pulley with a wrench or socket wrench and see if its rotates freely and if it gets really hard to rotate then you got the timing wrongfully set as it would do damage to your engine when you crank it up
