If you recharge a/c system and every thing is working right it will rest it's self, you could also try disconnecting the battery for 1 mim and see if that will clear it, I don't think it will, if it don't then you have bad low pressure switch, the switches are on a very thin a/c line that run's above the fire wall from left to right, before remove these switch the a/c system will have to be recover of freon to replace these two switches, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

If you have not recharge your a/c system, recharge it and have it check for leaks.

My air conditioner compressor in my 2002 buick rendezvous stopped working.

Take to a shop that has the proper gauges and ability to vacuum the system properly. Do not simply try and add Freon as it only causes an air gap and false readings. In addition, some cars require a resetting of values on the cars computer brain in order to function properly.

Air conditioner electric circuit

Try disconnecting battery for two minutes to reset the system. Then start the car and check a/c operation.

A/c problem

The A/C system requires pressurized Freon to work. As long as there is still some pressure remaining in the system, there is hope to solving the problem. A bigger problem is created when outside atmospheric air seeps into the system because it contains humidity and that type of air can be compressed, but has no ability to work like Freon. A complete purge of the system with an electric Vacuum pump would be needed after fixing the leak which caused the seepage.

But if your A/C has pressure, there is a chance Freon with a sealer could be added. What happens is there are 2 shut-off switches working from Freon pressure, a low and high range pressure switch. If you are low on Freon, an access port can used to add Freon.

You would attach a can of Freon with a sealer and follow the instructions for refilling the unit. There are some cans with a gauge and hose attached. Otherwise a guage set, called Manifold guages would be needed. In some cases, with extremely low pressure, the low pressure switch would need to be bypassed with a jumper wire.

The car engine must be running to do this. So care is needed to avoid moving parts.

The A/C in my 2003 Camry was noticeably less cool today. Fan works fine. Mechanic felt hose connections and thought they were not as cold as they should be. He pumped out the refrigerant and said there...

The specification for your A/C system capacity according to Mitchell Online is 1.25 Lbs. Anyway you look at it, freon level is not the issue unless there is too much dye and oil in your system. Personally, I HATE that dye stuff. The system usually gets overcharged with oil when techs use that stuff and that can cause extremely high pressures and low performance. It is much better for the customer's A/C system as well as faster and more efficient to use an electronic leak detector to find system leaks. I don't understand why the tech felt that dye was necessary in the first place. If the system is not low on freon, the problem is clearly NOT being caused by a leak in the WHAT was the dye for??? It is also not necessary to pump the freon out of the system to determine if the system is under-charged. That is what the manifold gauge set is for.
OK I'll get off my soap box to answer your question...

Yes, there are other possibilities. Without the high side pressure readings, it is hard to say for sure, but Toyotas are known for the expansion valves getting stuck and causing high low-side readings. If the low side is high and the high side is low, this is usually the case. (Freon flowing too fast through the evaporator)

P.S. A/C compressors don't "pull down" they "pump out". This may sound like a matter of semantics, but there truly IS a difference, and if you want to understand what is going on with your system, it has to be looked at this way

One more little tidbit of information:
Your A/C system is computer controlled and capable of outputting fault codes for certain types of system malfunctions. Did the tech even bother to check for fault codes? I'll bet not!

My ac is blowing hot air. I've checked the gas and it's full. The compressor seems to cut on and off about every 10-15 sec. Do I need a new compressor or do I have some sort of fault switch? Any...

Hello, You need to check how much Low end pressure you have. The Low pressure cutoff switch will disconnect the compressor if the pressure is too low. The high end pressure switch will do the same thing for extreme pressure.

Sometimes the Low pressure switch will get weak and cut off the system too early. Just change this switch which will come out with only a slight puff of Freon being lost. You can jump the connector with a U shaped wire and bypass the Low pressure cutoff switch. If the compressor works better and does not cut out, it can still be low on Freon or have a bad Low pressure switch.

However, if the compressor cuts out a Second time with the Low pressure switch bypassed, the system is probably overcharged and the HIGH pressure switch is cutting off the compressor. You need to purge some Freon out of the system if High pressure is indicated.

Where it gets tricky is the Compressor will compress both Freon and Atmospheric air. Your efficency drops when the Freon is displaced by Atmospheric air. You will need to find the leak in the system which is allowing Freon to leak and outside air to enter the system. You will get a pressure reading with any gas in the lines.

There are Leak detectors and sealers for the system. I hope you just have a bad low pressure switch which is the easiest solution.

After replacing freon ac to new coolent computer will read that the collent is low and shuts down the compressor. How do I correct this or how do I reprogram the car's computer?

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 25 seconds and put it back on,then add more freon, unless you know you have put in enough,if so,remove freon, and remove the orifice tube and replace it.If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

When putting freon in with car running freon does not go in

Your ac is controlled by the computer and once it recognizes that you are low on freon it shuts the compressor down.. You will first have to start putting a can of freon into the system without the car running . With your gauges still hooked up disconnect the the battery and reconnect it after ten seconds or more. This will reset your computer. Start your car and then turn on the ac. The compressor should come on and you should be able to continue charging your ac.

I want to recharge the airconditioner, but the computer in the dash states refregerent to low compresser shut off! how do I turn on?

Add freon if not done yet, disconnect battery for 5mim, should reset, if it don't reset after disconnecting battery, your low pressure switch's are bad, that happens about 50% of the time when freon get's low. the low switch's are located on a very thin a/c line that run's along the top of the fire wall, there will be two about 12" to 18" apart, on the same a/c line, recover freon before removing switch's, install new one's evac a/c system and recharge with 2lbs of freon, hope this was very helpful.

Compressor is off and will not come on, how do you turn the compressor on

It has freon in it? If yes, you need to reset the low freon shut down. To do this just unhook the battery for a couple of minutes.
