2 wheel drive?
1 jack, 1 jackstand, 1 lug wrench,1 pair of channel lock pliers,1 pair side cut pliers1 3/8 or 10mm allen wrench, 1 six to 8 inch c clamp, 1 small pry bar grease, rags,.
place jack under truck same as changing tire, jack up and put jack stand under frame, remove tire, then using allen wrench,s remove allen bolts on inside of brake caliper, pry caliper off gently so as to not damage the brake pad,use a piece of wire and hang caliper so it does not hang on brake hose, then pull or pry the center hub cap off this will expose the bearingretaing nut there should be a cotter key in front of the nut,use the side cut pliers and straighten the cotter key then pull it out, remove the retaining nut and and crown washer, then pull the hub and bearing assembly off.
installation is in reverse, put hub and greased bearings on spindel tighten center nut while turning hub and tighten the nut very tight, the hub will be very hard to turn then start loosening the spindle nut and spinning the hub, holding the top of the hub push in and out if you feel it rocking on the bearings it is to loose tighten the slowly until there is no play put a cotter back in, put the small hubcap back on then using the c clamp and a piece wood put the c clamp over the back of the brake caliper and slide the piece over the piston cup on the inside to protect the piston, tighten the clamp until the piston is colapsed all the way, put brake pads back on put caliper on,put a small amount of grease on the smooth part of the allen bolts not on the threads, tighten the bolts.
put the tire assembly back on,remove jack stand and jack,
this is the important part,
1 be sure all bolts and fasteners are on and tight.
2 when you get in the truck and start it leave it in park, gently push the brake pedal down part way and let up do this until the pedal becomes firm.
3 after you drive five or ten miles recheck every thing.
Hope this helps.

My 99 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 new model has a rubbing noise when driving. I jacked truck up, both wheels off ground. Rolled driver side wheel. the sound of rubbing came from driver side of differential....

It sounds like the front bearings on the hub or hubs is going out. at high speeds you may not hear it.

but driving on a regular city street may sound louder. sometimes sounds like your transmission is going

out, but its the front hubs. since you have a 4 x 4 replacing the bearings is more in depth, you will need

special tools such as lock ring pliers and a special deep socket to remove the inner lock nut made for

chevy and gmc trucks. I would recommend you get a diaghram, the best money for your buck is to

go to alldata.com and purchase a membership for your truck, and it will have a wealth of info. to include

printing and anything in referance to your truck. each vehicle cost under 17 dollars per year . I have it

on all my vehicles. good luck!

1999 Silverado 1500 ABS bad wheel speed sensor, on one wheel what is involved in replacing it I removed fuse to allow usage.

it is not bad to do. you will need to replace the hub assembly as it comes with the speed sensor on it. first remove the tire. then remove the 2 caliper mounting bolts. remove it and take the rotor off and follow the speed sensor wire and unplug it. needle nose plyers work good for getting the push in clips out. then remove the hub assembly mounting bolts and take the hub off.

Driver side wheelbearing assembly replace . what is the proper way to replace on a 2006 chev. 4x4 silver.;

remove wheel. remove brakes and rotors, remove axle nut. make sure axle breaks free inward from hub( 4x4 models only) ( smack it a few times, use a wood block dont damage the threads) remove the three or four bolts coming from the rear side of the knuckle going into the wheel bearing/hub assembly, once removed ur gonna have to beat the hub free from the knuckle. chisel on an air hammer works well. chisel outward dont be afraid to take a small sledge and smack the hub behind the lug nut area, its getting replaced.

Need to replace drivers side power mirror on 1999

Remove that plastic piece at the top of the door panel, ( it just unsnaps straight out), use a small screwdriver or putty knife to help pry it up, it's held in place by plastic clips so be gentle.
Unplug the connector from the mirror,
Remove the nuts and the mirror assembly will come off, don't let it fall.
Installation is the reverse.

It's on the driver side frame. It's not hard to install one. Just have to have a special tool to get the line off the filter.
