No switch. FORD has those Inertia Switches and I dont know why everyone thinks their car has one? I would suggest having a repair shop look at it, guessing is expensive.

03 malibu car chugging when starting to move have to hit gas hard to move car replace all tune up parts and crank sensor and mass air flow sensor still same problem anyone that can help

you should check to see if there are any codes in the pcm as not all codes will set the check engine light could have a problem with the throttle position sensor(tps).also check the fuel pressure as if its not within limits by holding the throttle open it allows more fuel to be sprayed by increasing the on time of the injectors.

Car stalls while driving.. starts right up but shuts off i start it hit the gas and engine tries to rev up but hesites alot then shuts off

Ford vehicles have an auto shut-down switch. The switch is in the trunk. If a Ford is hit with enough force or if the car rolls over in an accident, the switch is triggered and it shuts off the vehicle. This is to prevent fuel from continuing to flow to the engine, possibly causing a fire. If you were hit in the rear and the car will not start, look for the shut-down switch in the trunk. It is usually on the driver's side under the carpet.

Ran out of gas and wont start

Hi Terri. The Fords have a thing on them known as an 'inertia switch'. The switch is a safety, in the event of a crash, it will shut the flow of gas to the engine off so the car doesn't catch fire in the engine comp't. Also, the inertia switch is vacuum operated, meaning that it needs a constant supply of fuel going through or it will lose the ability to push, or allow fuel to get to the engine. Now, there is a reset for the switch located up under your dash board, probably on the drivers side, in toward the center console, or possible just to the right of the gas pedal. It looks like a black box with a step on it and should be labeled as such (it will say 'inertia reset' or something similiar on it). Just push the button and the switch is reset which will allow the vacuum to reset and allow gas to pass from the gastank to the engine. Good luck.

Jetta will not accelerate up inclines.

good chance you have a clogged cat converter ...with engine running have someone rev engine and see how much flow you have out tail pipe. also if you hear the sound of something rattling inside exhaust that is another tell tale sign

when the car is hot and will not crank have someone get under the car and TAP the gas tank moderately hard with a rubber mallet, if this helps start the car you have an intermittent problem with your fuel pump. If your not getting gas properly your problem will exist in your fuel system if you are not receiving a ecm code. So, it could be the pump, mass air flow, or injectors. I have replaced mass air flow sensors and received a damaged sensor or damaged it myself, but if you have a decent mechanic who knows what he is doing he can hook up to your computer and tell if it is your mass air flow.
