From what I know about that system I don't think you can without possibly damaging the transfer case and, I don't think you really need to. The way the system works, the front wheels are not really engaged unless the transfer case "sees" slippage or a dis-similar turning speed between front and rear wheels (why it's important to keep all tires exactly the same in size, brand and tread depth) when it sees a difference a coupler inside the case heats up and makes the engagement. On dry ground, there is no slippage and the unit remains in two wheel drive.
Therefore, I'd leave it alone.

Manual hubs not expensive consult your nearest 4wd shop or check out jc whitney catalog or something similar.some auto parts stores can get them and there not that difficult to install yourself.

4 wheel drive quit at some time didn't know it...drives fine only rear wheels pulling..could it be electrical ??

I hava a 1999 Grand cherokee loredo V8 with full time 4wheel drive. when the rear tires slip I am hearing a poping noise in the front end when the 4wheel drive engages. I was told by one person that it could be the chain in the transfer case slipping but I was told by a jeep salesman that this year jeep did not have a chain. Could this be the CV joints in the front axels?

I have 31x10.5x15 tires on the rear and stock 15in tires on the front of a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front end is trying to lock in 4 wheel low. Is it because of the different size tires? Can I disable...

Tire size is critical on any jeep but especially so on ones with quadratrac transfer cases. If you run different size tires it will cause the fluid coupler inside the case to overheat and fail. (big$ to repair)
Don't drive it that way and get a matching set of tires on there asap!!!

How hard is it to replace the rear maine oil seal on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 liter V8 4 wheel drive

There is some work involve in replacing rear main seal, seal sit in the rear of the engine block, the transmission will have to be remove, and the fly wheel to get to the rear main seal.If you have never removed a engine or transmission, it might be best to pay and have some one do it for you.

4x4 light and knocking noise after driving

If you hear the noise after the engine is turned off that noise is most likely the exhaust system cooling down. As far as the light for the 4 wheel drive that requires a test be run with a special scan tool while the problem is occurring.

Jeep Quadratrack does not shift into 4 wheel drive

the quad trac is an alltime 4wheel drive system. it does have a control module that helps transfer the power from front to rear. if it is a 2008 it should be under warranty and you can have it checked out for proper operation
