Don't think I've ever seen "too much" battery....The higher the cold crank amp rating (cca) the better off you are. The important thing is to use a battery that will not interfere with anything near it and will not touch the hood when it's closed. Also important is to begin with a fully charged battery. It takes very little work for an alternator to keep a good battery charged, regardless of size... A discharged battery will continually overwork the alternator, robbing horsepower from the engine and quickly burning the alternator out. Another battery tip is to keep it clean and put it on a two amp external charger every month or so. That prevents bleed off of voltage from conductive dirt and compensates for the time spent listening to the radio and keeping the "sleep mode"(from clock, and computer memory) losses to a minimum. One item most people don't know is that an alternator (unlike early cars with generators) are designed to maintain the state of charge in the battery. Begin with a half charge and it will never get much better than that. If you do this, you can get up to two extra years of service from all but the most poorly constructed batteries.
