SOURCE: 2005 Yukon Front Diff Axle seals
You don't have to remove the whole diff to change the seals, but you will have to seperate it where the shaft meets the carrier housing. There is a clip holding the passenger axle shaft in place that you have to remove to change the seal. The drivers side axle stub can be removed with a little force as there is a spring clip holding that side in.

It is fairly easy to do. remove rear wheels and brake drums, remove the differential cover, rotate the diff to access the diff pin bolt and remove, remove pin, push axles inward and remove c clips, slide out axles and replace seals. reverse procedure

Diff does not need to be removed to change axle. If you are good at this stuff, you can figure your way through it, or get a manual as a guide (haynes etc. are OK for this stuff) Axle is held into carrier by a "c" clip so you do need to remove the cover and spider gears to get it out (not difficult) If you run into a problem, someone here will surely help!
