No water in the oil? How about oil in the water? When you fill up the radiator, is there a scum floating on the top? Look for steam coming out the exhaust when the engine is warm. A radiator shop can do a comp check and tell you real fast what is wrong. It sounds like a head gasket, Keep an eye on the temp gauge. One more thing is the engine could have air trapped in there, and it needs to be vented out, all cars are different, some have vents, some don't, some don't do it. Some need to be elevated to be filled, etc, check it out. Hope this helps.

My 1986 mercedes 300e runs hot i replaced the thermastat

Hi,first of all worm the car up to running tempriture, put your hand on the water pipe that is coming from the fermastate is it hot if so try the one at the bottom of the radiater to see if that is hot if that is hot then the radiater is fine, nexst turn engine off, then undo the oil cap to see if your oil has a musterd colour for oil if oil is ok,then you will have to do a compresion test to see if there is one of your cylinders has low compresion.
some times you can have a broken head gasket which can couse uneven running due to water going into the cylinder.
I hope its not bad and a easy fix this is just to give you food for thought, best of luck.

I have a 2004 pacifica. I've changed the hoses and the thermastat and the car is still losing the antifreeze. the mechanic said that he does not see a leak. The radiator was also cheked and it'

drain the oil an see if it has water in it. if it does that you have a big problem. if not that make sure the freeze plugs are in other than that umm...idk if there is no leaks than it has to be draining into your oil

Car running hot

You could try to change or empty the catalyst, if it's old and never changed, this could be the problem, as the exhaust won't let through easily enough. If i were you, i would empty it at first to make sure this is the problem, as well as getting about 15 horsepower more, probably more if the catalyst is very old. easiest way to empty it (at least with some other cars, i don't know about Pontiac) would be to take it off and use a crowbar to smash it up inside, and pour it out (yeah, i know it sounds suspicious, but it works)

Pickup is getting hot, have put a new radiator, thermastat, new sensor. now is smoking out the tail pipe and trying to die. There is not water in the oil.

You don't always get water in the oil, with blown head gasket, if the smoke is white or like steam, back head gasket, engine got to hot.Your getting water in the cylinder's, that's why it's running with a cylinder miss.

Check gauge light problem

Change the engine oil or top it up to the specified level if the oil is still good and not burnt. After such conditions if the engine oil level is low, it would be advisable to change it completely. Also check if water pump is able to circulate the water properly(see on removing the radiator cap while the engine is running). Clean all plugs as added safety and try...sodeep

Overheating

Posible thermastat sticking closed. If thermastat doesn't open heated water is trapped in the engine causing it to run hot and not allowing hot water to travle to the heater core when called for.
