Get a test meter and test if you get any voltage reading at the starter motor's wiring connection. If when trying to start the ignition you do get a reading then you have a problem with the starter. If you dont get any voltage reading then you have a problem with wiring, fuse or relay somewhere. Hope this helps.

Need to locate ebcm for a 1996 tahoe

The ebcm has nothing to do with the brake lights , the ebcm - electronic brake control module is for the ABS - anti-lock brake system !
Stoplamps
Voltage is available at all times through the STOP/HAZ fuse to the torque converter clutch (TCC)/stoplamp switch. With the depression of the brake pedal, the contacts in the TCC/stoplamp switch close. Voltage is available from the stoplamp relay on pickups, or the TCC/stoplamp switch on all of the other vehicles, through the turn/hazard switch to the left stoplamp, the right stoplamp, and the stoplamp lights. If a turn signal is in operation, the stoplamp on that side flashes as a turn signal. The other stoplamp serves as a stop lamp.

Most cars do this including the head lights , so the starter and ignition have less drain while starting. not sure if your model does this, If every thing is ok after starting nothing to worry about. If it wont start clean the battery terminals and check charging rate and battery.

Turn signals dont work

Switch in the column is likely the problem. Unless you are very familiar with inflatable restraint systems leave it to a professional.

1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic, I-6, Automatic Runs great, normally starts great. Occasionally go to start the car and it is totally dead - no dome light, no door buzzer, nothing happens when I turn the key....

first off clean the battery terminals, then follow the ground wire to the body and engine ensure they have good connections. sometimes the wire on the back of the engine that goes to the body breaks. good luck

1996 F150 will not start. Turn key and nothing

if you hear clicking at the starter solenoid, then hit the starter with a hammer a few times,if it turns over a little, then either replace the brushes in the starter which is about $20.00 or buy a new rebuilt starter for about $90.00

is it the rear break lights? it may be the switch attached to the break pedals, - have seen it happen here in europe a couple of times.... you can always try checking with a multimeter if the switch is operating correctly
