Question about 1995 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

I am having a problem with my right tail light not working properly. When I turn on my right blinker the turn signal light and the break light both blink. When I press my break the light for the right blinker lights up as well as the third break light does not work. I have changed all the bulbs to these lights. Any suggestions?

Just to be sure, the turn signal is the Sylvania 1156 and the combination Brake/running light is the Sylvania 1157 bulb.

Have the correct bulbs in but there is either a problem with the switch the wiring or the light assembly itself.

Yes, put the RIGHT BULBS in the right sockets.

Be mindful of single and dual element bulbs.

Your problem is either a bad bulb in the tail light/brake lights or your turn signal switch is bad. I'm more inclined to say that the problem is the turn signal switch and you need to replace it.

Break lights and blinkers not working

If you put the tester on the outlets and it lights up properly but the bulbs dont, you have already concluded that the wiring isn't the problem. unless of course the wires are corroded and simply putting the bulb in shorts it out. Have you tested the bulbs?

I have a 94 Chevy C1500 and the right side brake light and blinker are not working. The tail light and reverse light work though, and the right front blinker works but it blinks twice as fast as it...

It could be a bad multifunction (turn signal) switch. The way that switch works, it is possible that it can turn on the front blinker and not the rear one. It also cancels the brake circuit so the turn signal can work with the brake pedal depressed.

However, a more likely cause would be a break in the YELLOW/BROWN wire at the rear of the truck. It is common for the connector to get corroded at the left rear frame area where the bed harness connects to the vehicle harness. If you have trailer connections spliced into the wiring harness, these connections are also prime candidates for corrosion. I would look there first. Inspect these harnesses thoroughly all the way up and into the tail light assembly.

If the wires under the back of the truck look good, then I would check for power coming out of the turn signal switch. The wire at the turn signal switch is plain YELLOW (with no brown tracer). It is Pin (M) on the turn signal switch connector. The front signal is a LIGHT BLUE wire at the turn signal switch Pin (H). If you probe these with a test lamp, they should both work the same except the yellow wire will be hot with the brake pedal depressed and the switch NOT in the left turn position. If there is no power at the switch connector, replace the switch.

check all of the bulbs on that side 1 of them my not be working(it may light up but not flash because some of those bulbs are combo bulbs)meaning that some turn signals are used by part of your tail lights or break lights.

96 contour. left tail light, 1 and 2nd break light are out.

Everything works, more or less, so you know that the switches and fuses are good. That means that you've got either bulb problems or power/ground problems. First, try swapping the bulbs around to see if the "bad" lights will work with the known "good" bulbs in them. If so, you just need to replace some bulbs. If not, check the sockets inside and out for corrosion, clean them (wire brush, steel wool, sandpaper, etc.) if necessary, and use a voltmeter or automotive tester to make sure that you have power and ground to each socket. The fast flash on the turn signal is just an indicator that a bulb is out.

Right read blinker/break light dont work, turn signal blinks rapidly

It's the bulb. There are two filliments in the bulb. One is for when you turn your lights on and the other is for breaking and blinker flashing. When the break filliment goes bad it causes the blinker to flash very rapidly. 100% the bulb. Change it and all will be good again. P.S. if it were a fuse none of the break lights or blinkers would work.
