Question about 2005 Nissan Xterra
My service engine soon light has been turning on and off over the last couple of months, but seems to be on consistently now. I parked in my driveway this evening and noticed a kind of high pitched buzzing/whining noise that persisted for maybe 30 seconds then stopped. I have also noticed a clicking noise coming from the same area as the buzzing noise while I'm slowing down from a cruising speed to stop at a light or make a turn. The clicking might be happening the entire time I'm driving, but I can only hear it when I'm slowing down. Both sounds are coming from below the oil cap on the driver's side.
I recommend that you take it into auto-zone or a car shop asap. from what you have described the ticking as, it sounds like a bottom knock. as for the whine i don't know.
