Backfireing your timing chain and sprakets need changing. Your old sprakets thats in there are plastic. If you changed it already you may be misfiring and need plugs and wires.

84 dodge 318 sluggish and laks power at throttle up whats wrong?

If adjusting the air valves on the carb doesn't help. you likely need to have the carburater cleaned. The air adjustment needles are located at the base of the carb at the front. Turn them out until you reach high idle, and then in again, about one full turn. If that doesn't help, you'll have to put a carb kit in, and have it cleaned.

The idle go up and down as the oil pressure too

The oil pressure will go up and down with the rpm of the engine. The idle going up and down is probably either the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor, both of these should be located somewhere on the throttle body, (what looks like a carburater)

My car is using a quart of oil every thousand miles and there are no visible leaks

1 quart of oil in 1,000 Mi. isn't out of the range of normal for an older car. If it's used for mainly stop & go type driving [ city driving ] it's about normal. As things wear inside the engine some oil will find it's way into the combustion cylinders and burn with the fuel mixture, the catalitic converters will clean up the exhaust so you wouldn't see any smoke from this small amount being burnt.
A clogged air filter or faulty PCV valve will cause a higher rate of oil consumption, if those are good, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep checking the level.

Changed all my sensers, fuel filter, cat. converter and intake gasket car still idles rough. Any other sugestions?

Are you sure all your cylinders are firing? If one or more isn't, then you would get a rough idle and cut off and possible backfires on the top end.

Its a 99 Oldsmobile silhouette... last feb i had a new intake manifold gasket put on. Then that june it just died.. Well my father in law has been looking at it.. Took the starter to advanced and its says...

I hate to say it but it sounds to me like it jumped time, or may have broke a timing belt. in that engine this would allow the pistons to actuate(pushing the oil out of the spark plug holes). but the cams are not turning so the engine will turn over but not fire. have him pull a valve cover, and see if the valves are moving as the engine cranks if they don't its probably a broken timing belt. if they do move, the timing belt probably stretched and jumped time at high speed causing the engine to no longer run. the backfire during cranking is probably due to the fact that the fuel delivery system is still functioning and the spark is erratic enough due to the lapsed timing that the ignition of the fuel in the combustion chamber(cylinder) is happening while the exhaust valve is open and is forcing the combustion out through the exhaust. i hope this helps

Where will the oil pump be located in a 84 oldsmobile 231 3.8L

the oil pump is located inside the engine, to access it u must remove the oil pan, to do this the engine must be disconnected from it mounts and raised up to remove the pan.

My 84 Grand Maquis leaks oil in the air filter

Anytime there is oil in the air cleaner system you either have a bad pcv valve or the rings in the motor are worn out and letting oil get passed them. The shaking could be the carb.or ignition system. This much oil in the air cleaner system could be the motor is getting tired and on it`s last legs.

My 1998 Olds 88 has been stalling and running rough.

Check and clean the IAC valve. Idle Control Valve. Use brake cleaner or carburater cleaner . Remove the duct work from the air filter assembly. It is located just inside . Run the engine at 1200 rpms and spray the valve. The valve can also be removed and cleaned.

1990 olds cearia 2.5

Most likely cause is a broken valve spring on one of the intake valves. Seat pressure is light enough to idle smooth but on acceleration the dynamics increase the pressures and the spring can not keep up. Hangs the valve open breifly and you get a backfire through the TBI.
Hope this helps.
