Question about 2002 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

Turbo lags, or wont engage smoothly.

Turbo doesnt want to engage, then car shudders, check engine light blinks and goes off. other wise engine runs great. could this be the clutch? (i doubt it because if i dont cause the turbo to kick in,all runs well.)

The golf is renowned for a 1/2 sec lag in the turbo (except for the diesel which is quicker and more powerful all round,2 secs faster from 30 to 60.)you could chip the car (volks tuning) and make it much better...if you had a clutch problem, the engine will spin, wheels would be stationary.....

have it scanned with a code reader to see what if any fault it picks up, Toyota dealer might be a good idea here.

2004 F150 SuperCrew, check engine light flashes, engine runs roughly and shudders. Engine light stays on and the engine goes back to running smoothly.

Flashing CEL is an indication of a misfire. You would need a code scanner to find out which cylinder it is.
The code should be a P030n where n= 1 to 8 ( the cylinder number ). Could be a P0300, which is a misfire indication.

My 1998 pontiac bonneville se skakes when the fans turn on, is it a belt or something???

Hi, does it just shudder a bit and then go away or does it always shudder when the fans are on. When the engine fan comes on it draws enough amps to put a load on the engine. It is common that you feel a slight shudder as they engage but it should smooth out.

Very slow in responce to excelerator

How about checking up your clutch plates & it's springs, which might be getting jammed & when released it engages the transmission resulting in wheels spinning & sudden acceleration. If the throtle is not opened up while taking off, the engine might & would switch off!....sodeep

sounds like a very common problem on turbo vag vehicles, the variable vains are sticking in the turbo, your fault code would have said....turbo boost pressure not reached.....common with v v t turbos, run a good quality fuel cleaner through it ,if that doesnt work then a new turbo is the only cure
