Just let it idle and fill till its full. it may take a while to bleed air out. turn it off and let it set a while, when the fluid is clear, adjust the level till its at the full mark.

Where is the bleed valve for a power steering box

Open the hood and check the level of the power-steering fluid by removing the power-steering reservoir cap. Add the correct fluid recommended in your owner's manual to bring the level up to the full mark. Be aware that fluid that looks foamy is an indication of air in the system. Replace the cap.
Locate the power-steering bleed valve on top of the steering box near the bottom of the engine bay. Follow the power-steering, high-pressure lines from the power-steering pump to the steering box if you have trouble locating it.
Push a 6-foot length of rubber hose onto the end of the bleed valve. Run the other end of the hose into a drain pan.
Start the engine. Loosen the bleed valve fitting slightly with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Turn the steering wheel all the way to its stop one way and then the other several times. Shut the engine off.
Close the bleed valve by tightening it with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Remove the power-steering reservoir cap, and add fluid to bring the level up to the full mark.
Observe the power-steering fluid that came out of the rubber hose into the drain pan. Repeat the above procedure if there are air bubbles in the fluid. Close the bleed valve and remove the rubber hose when there are no air bubbles in the fluid expelled from the bleed valve. Close the hood.

Bleed power steering on 2008 dodge avenger

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping, wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle, let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for leaks.be sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right, have vechicle towed to a garage.

How do you remove and replace a power steering pump on a 2002 chevy lumina?

YOU FIRST YOU NEED TO REMOVE COOLANT RECOVERY RESERVOIR. YOU NEED TO REMOVE DRIVE BELT.NOW PLACE DRAIN PAN UNDER CAR IN LINE WITH POWER STEERING PUMP.NOW SIPHON OUT MUCH POWER STEERING FLUID OUT RESERVOIR USING A SIPHON.ONCE FLUID REMOVE OUT POWER STEERING PUMP.USE A DEEP 3/8 SOCKET ABOUT 13M OR 14 M YOU NEED A SHORT EXTENSION AND A 3/8 RATCHET WRENCH.TO REMOVE POWER STEERING PUMP.TO LOOSEN BOLTS, TAKE DEEP SOCKET IN PULLEY HOLES . LOOK THROUGH POWER STEERING PULLEY HOLES ALIGN DEEP SOCKET THROUGH THE PULLEY HOLES TO THE PUMP BOLTS. LOOSEN ALL THREE BOLTS. YOU HAVE TO TURN PULLEY THREE TIMES TO REMOVE ALL THE POWER STEERING PUMP BOLTS.ONCE POWER STEERING PUMP BOLTS REMOVED.TAKE OLD POWER STEERING PUMP TO THE MACHINE SHOP.THEY WILL HAVE TO REMOVE PULLEY OFF OLD PUMP AND TRANSFER DRIVE PULLEY TO NEW POWER STEERING PUMP.NOW WHEN YOU INSTALL NEW POWER STEERING PUMP.MAKE SURE TO BUY A NEW O RING FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE TO POWER STEERING PUMP. WHEN ALL DONE BLEED POWER STEERING PUMP. WITH THE FRONT WHEELS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND THE IGNITION KEY OFF, CHECK THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL AND IF LOW ADD FLUID UNTIL IT REACHES THE COLD MARK ON THE DIP STICK.SAFELY RAISE FRONT WHEEL OFF GROUND BY SUPPORTING FRONT OF THE CAR USING JACK STANDS, MAKE SURE CAR SITTING ON SOLID LEVEL GROUND. START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN AT FAST IDLE.RECHECK THE FLUID LEVEL AND ADD MORE IF NECESSARY TO REACH THE COLD MARK ON THE DIP STICK.BLEED THE SYSTEM BY TURNING THE WHEELS FROM SIDE TO SIDE WITHOUT HITTING A STOPS.THIS WILL WORK THE AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM. DONT ALLOW THE RESERVOIR TO RUN OUT OF FLUID. WHEN AIR IS WORKED OUT OF THE SYSTEM.RETURN THE WHEELS TO THE STRAIGHT AHEAD POSITION, AND LEAVE THE ENGINE RUNNING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. RECHECK THE FLUID LEVEL.ROAD TEST THE VECHICLE TO BE SURE THE STEERING SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY WITH NO NOISE.RECHECK THE FLUID LEVEL TO BE SURE ITS UP TO THE HOT MARK ON THE DIP STICK WHILE THE ENGINE IS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE ADD FLUID IF NECESSARY.

Do you have to bleed a rack and pinion after installing?

yes, but it is a simple procedure. top up your power steering fluid, and turn the wheel lock to lock several times. the fluid will be full of air bubbles, and you may need to shut the car off and let it sit for a few minutes to let the bubbles settle out. top up the level again, and repeat until the pump is quiet and there is minimal bubbles. good luck!

2002 hyundai elantra power stearing pump replaced. Loud squeal and chatter when stearing left or right. HELP

was the p/s system bleed of air properly before running the new pump. wheels should be off the ground and the fluid reservoir full then wheels turned from left to right all the way and top of fluid as needed. then start engine and continue to cut left and right. fluid aeration will cause premature pump failure and noise. also ensure that no other parts are restricted, i have seen faulty valves in the rack or lines cause restrictions in the flow and cause the pump to fail even new ones. hope this will help you

My 1999 dodge Intrepid makes a loud whining noise (like a power steering pump) any time it is running... Any ideas on what it could be?

if the winning noise gets louder when you turn the steering wheel, it is the power steering pump.
99 to 04 intrepids have a serpintine belt with a self tightner.what i did with mine is **** the old power steering fluid out with a shop vac.replaced half with new fluid and top up with a transmission/power steering fluid additive.the noise went away after a couple of days.

Intrepid 2002/01 power steering issue

Is there a screen in the bottom of the resevoir. The screen could be plugged. I had this problem on a PT cruiser. fought me for a couple of days. If no screen check for good fluid flow from the return hose. May be a filter somewhere or a plugged cooler.

Bleeding power steering pump

The system bleeds its self as it runs, the pump will eventually stop wining once the air is out of the lines.Let the van idle and turn the steering wheel full lock in each direction a couple time to move the fluid through out the system letting out any air.
