Are u revving engine in park?....some of these have an R.P.M. restrictor that protects engine damage due to high R.P.M. without load on engine (such as when vehicle is in gear)

Car runs but sometimes dies as your going along wait a few minutes and it starts and runs again

Seen this many times on Grand Cherokees. The crank sensor is going bad. Replace it with a dealer crank sensor, not an aftermarket one.

You are hitting the rev limiter top range, which cuts off your ignition.

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and the problem drives me crazy, but it is the way the car is designed- as soon as you hit the rev limit, it shuts down ignition and your jeep will "buck" - a real pain when you are trying to accelerate into traffic!

You have the 4.0L straight six engine, yes?

If so, please take my advice and learn to live with the minor annoyance of the rev limiter- that engine is IMHO the best Chrysler ever made (nearly "bulletproof"!) and it was so reliable you cannot even get it in a jeep now! For decades, that engine was used in welders, tractors, generators...and yes, jeeps... and it is a favorite among mechanics for its durability!

What would cause my jeep when you turn the corner to cut out? It has been doing it for a couple of days....we were stopped at a stop sign and it just cut out....yesterday we changed the fuel pump and it...

I cannot think of anything solid state that would malfunction when just turning a corner. However, the automatic idle speed motor may be malfunctioning. But, for your interest, here are the various engine controls that exist on the Jeep Grand Cherokee: COMPONENT LOCATIONS Fig. 1: Electronic engine control component locations - 2.5L engine shown 91074g07.gif

You haven't changed everything...map sensor controls spark and fuel mixture as does the throttle position sensor, also check the idle control valve...Don't just buy stuff...do testing first.

200 Pontiac Grand Am over 3500 RPM loss of power

on almost all gm cars after 96 the engines were governed to not free rev over 4000rpm. when in gear and power braking the rpms stay lower cause of the load on engine. when reving above 3500 rpms the computer cuts back the timing and fuel to reduce engine damage if left to free rev. hop that helps.
