What makes you think there is a bad injector? thats not a common problem. There are 6, not 5 cylinders. I suggest you have a repair shop check it out.

thanks for getting back to me, My question was where the number three cylinder was located in relation to the other five cylinders, meaning all 6.... it turned out to be a faulty coil pack. the lack of a spark on number 3 cylinder caused raw fuel to damage the piston rings in that cylinder. I did not notice the misfire. I had to overhaul the motor to fix the problem.. all is fine now

It turned out to be the coil pack on number 3 cylinder,, raw fuel was injected into a dead cylinder causing damage to piston rings, had to overhaul engine to fix the problem. I did not notice the misfire in the engine till the damage was done to the compression rings. and as far as my question on location of no 3 cylinder, it was in relation to the other 5 cylinders of this engine. thanks

My 1996 Taurus when I press the gas pedal when cold it sputters and lacks power. When it warms up it runs great.

Possible causes - Faulty spark plug 5
- Clogged or faulty fuel injector 5
- Faulty ignition coil 5
- Fuel injector 5 harness is open or shorted
- Fuel injector 5 circuit poor electrical connection
- Ignition coil 5 harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coil 5 circuit poor electrical connection
- Insufficient cylinder 5 compression
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Intake air leak

The P0305 code means that the cylinder 5 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 5. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem, see "Possible Causes

When is the code detected? Engine Cylinder 5 is Misfiring.

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

Cylinder misfire

If you already replaced all those thing there is only 2 things left that could be causing this problem one(you don't what it to be this one) low compression on cylinder 3 or the cheap fix, the coil pack, I would check the coil pack before checking compression.

Cylinder #4 is not firing

Really need more info and symptoms to diagnose as it could be a number of things. More commonly spark plug/lead. Could also be a faulty/unplugged fuel injector. Could be a lack of compression (head gasket etc) Do you have some more symptoms?

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. I got my car checked out at Auto Zone and the code said that the number three cylinder was misfiring. I have changed the oil, had a tune up,( new sparks plugs, fuel and air...

First off I think it's time for a new mechanic. Doing an oil change and replacing the fuel filter and air filter have nothing to do with a misfire. Spark plugs and ignition coils can cause a misfire, but a good mechanic will test the coil and inspect the plugs instead of just guessing. Your mechanic is guessing and just throwing new parts at the car. A misfire can be caused by (aside from a bad coil or plug) a faulty or clogged fuel injector, spark plug wire, wiring to the injector or a vacuum leak. Since you only have a misfire in one cylinder, and you hear a whistle on acceleration, I would suspect a leak in the intake manifold. Go to a reputable repair shop and have them check the manifold for leaks. You can also check yourself by buying an automotive stethoscope, and moving it around the perimeter of the intake manifold listening for a hissing sound. Or have someone press on the gas while listening for a hiss under the hood.

Po316 2002 ford taurus

P0316 - Engine Misfire Detected on Start up (First 1000 Revolutions)

I checked the P0316 and this is what I got:

1. Fuel pressure - Pump, regulator, filter or lines
2. Fuel injector(s) faulty
3. Ignition system - Ignition module, coil, spark plugs and wires
4. Fuel system
5. Update control unit software - Check for the latest control unit update
6. Powertrain or Engine Control Module faulty

I started with number three because it's easy to get too. After pulling off the spark plug wires, I started thinking the wires are about three years old. I still pulled off the wires and checked and they are still clean as can be on the inside. Also, I changed the plugs the same time I did the wires. The coil I just changed about two - three months ago because it went out on me. As far as the rest of the stuff I am not sure where I should check next. I am not 100% sure how to check the fuel pressure - pump etc. I have read the Fuel injectors are easy to change but not sure how to test them. I would like to try and test the stuff first before going and spending money that I don't need too. With that being said, I live one hour one way to the nearest auto part store so I would like to know what I need before I make the drive.

keep us updated.

Error code p0303 cylinder 3 misfire My 2002 Ford Escape was in a front-end collision requiring the replacement of the radiator and cooling lines, etc. When it came back from the body shop the check engine...

It is possible that the wire may have been damaged and is arcing. Check the wire, may also be the plug. If that doesnt solve the issue it could be the ignition coil.
