Both rears? so you have to open a bleeder at the one of the rear clyinders to unstick the wheels? maybe the rear brake hose is bad?

Not getting any brake fluid to rear drums to a 1997 Chevy Tahoe

Must bleed air from brake lines. Done so with help of a friend to pump brake pedal a few times and hold while you loosen and immediately retighten the bleeder screw located right where the line enters drum on the back. Use care, as fluid will start to drain out as air is eliminated in line. Do this repeated times. When only fluid escapes you are finished!

Right Side Brakes keep holding and not releasing

Hi Tommy, I'm glad to help! There are only 5 things that can cause brakes to hold: (1) Calipers are sticking. NOTE: There are several reasons calipers stick, there are internally frozen meaning you need new calipers. Here's how to check them release the nut that holds the hose to the caliper when the fluid bleed out and the calipers do not release pressure from the brakes then they are internally frozen, replace them. (2) Hose's are calapsed internally. You check the hoses in the same way, release the bolt and if the calipers DO Release pressure from the brakes then you know it's the hoses. (3) The actual metal lines going to the back of the Vehicle could be damaged. Example: One time one of the rear brakes would not release pressure and I found where the line goes acroos the rear axle something had hit the line and smashed it flat and so it was holding brake pressure on the wheel. (4) Let's not forget how much dirt and grime builds up on the brakes themselves. Example: I found one time where the LANDS where the brake shoes slide were so dirty that the brake pad itself was stuck and holding the brake pressure on that wheel. (5) The Master Cylinder, not very often, but I have seen the ports in the master cylinder clog-up and will not bleed back to release brake pressure. This is a few thing for you to check out that will help you find the problem yourself and save you money. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Tommy.

Front brakes gradually get tighter until they lock up.

do you have to release the pressure from the brake line from the bleeder? I had this problem with a old motorhome,... turns out some one used something else besides brake fluid in the master cylinder, brake fluid wont expand under heat, tranny fluid or oil, etc it expands i n the brake system,and the pressure pushes the pads to the rotor and there for nowhere to go. Try flushing the whole brake line master cylinder etc....and put new Brake Fluid throughout. Bet that works. :::?"""""???

Replace rear brake pads How do you back off the

I'm a little confused by your question, so if I'm off remember, I was just trying to help. you have rear pads (disc brakes)? and are trying to get the caliper pistons to retract so you can get the pads on? If that's right, use a C-clamp to push the pistons back. After you're done, depress the brake pedal several times before starting the car to make the pistons push back out and take up the slack, and raise the foot pedal to its normal height.
If you have drum brakes (with shoes) and are trying to back off the pressure, hold the flange that prevents the star wheel adjuster from turning the wrong way up out of the way, and turn the star wheel in the reverse direction.

Front brakes only stick when engine is warm

either the servo push rod is over adjusted ,or teh rear seal in the servo is leting air in without the brake being applied

take the wheel and drum off the back and check that the shoes are not worn out on the edges..what happens is the end wears off first but as pressure is applied the shoe moves to where there is some pad left..severe brake dust can do it too. get the brakes checked as soon as you clean and adjust the rear brakes is not that expensive.

No parking brakes

If it has rear drum brakes jack up the back of the vehicle and pull off a drum click up the adjusting screw on the bottom a little bit say 5 or clicks then try to put drum back on if it goes on really easily pull it back off and adjust another 5 clicks or so go till drum wont go on and back the adjustment the other way useing a screw driver or something to hold the arm off of the adjusting screw so you can turn the screw back the other direction about 3 clicks till drum goes on snug but not too tight do the same for the other side.If you have rear disc brakes you have to adjust the cable going to the brake caliper adjust it tighter by about a half an inch or so at a time then go push on the e brake pedal it will get a little more resistance behind it after it gets a little tighter put a wheel back on and try to turn it with e brake on if you cant turn it release it try to turn wheel again if you can its adjusted some have a cable for both rear wheels adjust both as needed.

96 caprice sticky brakes or trans?

Ok, Ck for residual pressure at fron and rear by crackking open the bleeders Use a box wrench so you can see if they squirt. Protect your eyes. If they have residual pressur, the front is acceptable but very little, The back should have none. Next, make sure the rear brakes are not too tight or overadjusted and you can pull on the parking brake cable and feel the slack. The brakes at the rear tighten with forward wheel rotation. If they are in full contact with the drum rhey will tighten up on their own, causing them to drag. They won't lock up becase there is no pressure to keep them against the drum until you push the peddal. Let me know if any more help is needed. _Ned

Outer drum goes over the studs (your bolts)
You have to loosen something else.
Bit more difficult. On my old Mazda this was loosening the bearing.
Beware of contamination and re-adjusting bearing play and right amount of torque to be applied. Once you get there replace the shoes if far gone brush all out, etc. and apply some grease to let pads travel. Bet is still the same. As first timer at least buy a manual with drawings or pics.

Front brakes heat up and sieze

front brakes can be heat when you aplay food brake, but when you see ovaheat front brakes it can be front wheel cylinders remaining also bads constant tauch brake disck.
brake master cylinder can cause.

put the new wheel cylinder and new brake bads. also new front disck brake..
