Generally, most should be changed at about 25,000 miles. If the engine is ever overheated, trans oil should be changed immediately as it is cooled by the same system as the engine and therefore becomes chemically damaged from additional heat. I recommend that you always use a high quality fluid. (I prefer synthetics....expensive but have proven to be far superior to conventional lubricants.)
