I would highly advise not driving this until repair is possible this is a serious fire hazard. The turn signal switch is possibly shorting out and and could start a fire.

Smoke from steering wheel

Not a clue but I would take it to a dealer and have it checked. If it ever goes up in flames you do not want to be in the car.

Smoke around steering wheel area - Ignition switch ??

id have already took it apart and found what smoked.

Intermittent steams of smoke coming from steering colulm

Use hand signals until this is fixed. Possibly contact your car insurance about Electrical fire and comprehensive coverage. A fuse should have broke before the column smoked, there is nothing preventing a fire now.

They should want to fix this before the whole car burns up.

Smoking from middle of steering wheel

horn button and cruise control have button contacts on a circular ring surroundingthe steering shaft, that ring may not be fully square to wheel, or the contact buttons are worn, or the dividiing plastic strips are damaged- with the smoke being the moemntary shorted condition heating everything up..

Smoke coming from switch -flashers continue -- removed the furniture from around the switch but cannot get the steering wheel to come off the spline shaft -- any trick to it? Car is not worth spending too...

Removal of steering wheel ,,,, Loosen lock nut but do not take off completely. Grab wheel at the 3 and 9 (clock face ) position and rock alternately from hand to hand while applying pulling force. Feet firmly planted and back nearly in back of seat .
Some smoke may be experienced from a greasy/ dirty contact but NOT a smoke like signal as described, Overheated contacts or terminals will be clearly evident if symptom is old . Good Luck

Steering wheel smoke?

If it has rancid acidic smell, it is wires burning. Please stop driving before the air bag blows up in your face. Bring to a shop to find it.
