Question about 2003 Kia Sedona

2 Answers

I have a 2003 KIA Sadona. It stalled while driving down the road. A friend replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter. After test driving it ran ok. The next morning I started it to warm it up and it stalled after running about 10 minutes. I disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes and tried to start it again. It started and sputtered. I gave it some gas to rev up the rpm's and it stalled agin and and w3ouldn't restart. ??

Maybe the concern wasn't a defective fuel pump and instead an electrical concern

can you confirm you do not have fuel again?

It was a partially blocked fuel filter but also the fuel pump had a bad connection.

    Both were repaired.

I did not confirm that I DO NOT have fuel. The pump/filter were replaced, not repaired as I stated before.

well... if the filter was clogged, due to a faulty fuel pump, then you may have clogged the filter again unless the tank was flushed

Sounds like it's not getting fuel. Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. If low, make sure the pump is running. If the pump is running, but no pressure at the rail, check fuel, filter. Get back to us with result of these checks.

I have a chevy s10 2.2 2003 truck and one day it ran about five miles. then stalled. it started back up idled fine but put it in gear. stalled again. had to get towed home replaced the fuel filter,truck...

When you press on the gas when the truck is running, does it rev up?

Did it die while driving down the road (foot on the accelerator) or when idle? - If so, try cranking it and get your RPMs up to 1500-2000 RPMs and put it in drive (with your other foot on the brake). See if it will continue running if you never take your foot off the gas.

1996 ford explorer stalls like it ran out of gas

It sounds like a weak fuel pump is causing the occasional stalling, particularly when attempting acceleration at normal driving speeds. It's not unusual for it to idle with no problem if the pump is weak. Also, check the fuel lines to.from the fuel pump. If all else fails, you might consider adding an auxiliary fuel pump to counter the weak OEM pump.

My 2003 kia sedona shuts off while i'm driving on the road. No smells or any thing else. I have to stop right in the middle of the road (dangerous) and put in park and restart. the car starts just fine....

WELL I WOULD SAY FUEL FILTER.BUT YOUR FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP COME AS ASSEMBLY.THERE ARE FEW MORE THINGS CAN CAUSE YOU STALLING PROBLEM.WATER IN FUEL.IDLE SPEED TOO LOW.HAVE CAR SCAN FOR FAULTY PCM OR COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR.FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR.AND IGNITION COIL.SEE YOUR VECHICLE HAS 6 COILS 1 FOR EACH CYLINDER.

The car needs checked for codes the ingtion is more likly than fuel on this car Does it start right back up or do you have to wait awhile for it to start? The crank senser and the ingtion module and the coil are the causes and if it stalls adding fuel to the air intake should start it right back up. if its fuel or filter related how long does it run if less than a minute the filter is possible but if it has to run for awhile then the filter and the new fuel pump aren't whats wrong. if it starts right back up every time, wiggle the key switch as it tries to stall and if you can chatch it the switch can be bad and it happens alot.

there is no fuel pump cut off switch on this car, it is possible the fuel pump module was damaged from this accident, u will have to have the fuel pump circuit tested for faults before replacing the pump, don't guess, this is an expensive repair

My 2003 kia spectra stalls

Hi,
It might have a partially blocked fuel line or ait intake supply.
  • Try to check your fuel filter.
  • The seive on the fuel pump.
  • The fuel injectors might be dirty.
  • The air cleaner might be clogged
or the fuel sensor might be malfunctioning.
Try to check the compression, it might be loosing compression when you demand the engine to move the vehicle.
