Theoretically it should, but they are built to last, over engineered as they say, you see taxis and courriers, constantly on the road and they don't have major issues about it.

Most likely the shift cable that connects the shifter to the transmission if you can find where it connects to the transmission check there first sometimes they can get disconnected. then if your shifter is in the center console take the cover off and make sure shifter is still connected to cable. If that's not the problem and the cable is moving at the transmission then it's a problem inside the transmission

it would cause more wear and tear than a normal use car but a taxi driver friend of mine only puts it in nuetral when stopped, then back in drive or reverse when needed...he also starts engine in nuetral.

if you shift from a dead stop either way front or rear it should not,but we get in a hurry if your doing this all day as in deliveries, but a transmission won't last long if your shifting from forward to reverse and back while its moving, because there's pressure on the tranny internals going in one direction and being the flow is abruptly changed from one direction to the other will have an age taking toll on the internals

Hello, my friend is having a problem with his 2009 honda accord, maybe someone can help. His car is only 6 moths old but lately when he shifts into reverse there is about a second to second and a half...

I am pretty sure the gear shift is cable connected so there may have been some stretch in the cables. I have no idea how to adjust them but I wouldn't think the gearbox has suffered unless it is low on oil. At 6 months old Honda should sort it for free.
