Replace alternator belt

To replace the alternator belt, you must first remove the Power Steering/Air Conditioner belt. The tensioner for this belt is on the left side of the engine (when viewing from the transmission end). Loosen the tensioner pulley center bolt and then loosen the adjusting bolt. Then the alternator bolts must be loosened and the adjusting bolt for the alternator must be loosened.
Reverse procedure after installing new belt/belts.

Air conditioner belt replacement 1998 Plymouth Voyager

There are two belts under your hood, correct?
The long one is the serpentine belt.
The smaller one, mounted on 3 pulleys in triangular shape is the AC belt.
The AC belt must be removed before the serpentine can come off.
At the top of the triangle is a small bracket with a hex screw. This is called a jack screw. The tread of the screw is connected to inside of the top pulley and holds it in place. When loosened, the jack screw lowers the pulley so the AC belt loosens. If the pulley become detached from the jackscrew, just lift pulley back by hand to reconnect to jackscrew, and tighten screw to re-thread. Not a big deal.

I can't seem toget my belt around the alternator, aircondition, waterpump

You should have a tensioner pulley somewhere in the belt's path. It will be mounted to the engine but not connected to anything. You need to loosen it and swing it in towards the engine to install the belt. Once the belt is in place, pull the tensioner to the outside and tighten it, but leave some flex in the belt. If the pulley wobbles or whines, you'll need to replace it, too, or it will destroy the new belt.

NOTE: If the belt still won't go on with the tensioner released, the parts guy may have sold you the wrong belt.

I need a belt diagram for a 91 Geo Metro. I am replacing the alternator belt, but need to get the first belt off.I do not know where the belt tension adjustment bolt is for the first belt.

I believe the air conditioner belt tensioner bolt is underneath the mounting bracket on the compressor, then you can remove the alternator belt by loosening the two bolts from underneath on the alternator then loosen the top bolt and be careful prying the alternator inward to loosen the belt you can short a wire connection. Remove one of the battery cables to be safe!

AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING

Pop the hood, start the vehicle and turn the AC on. Watch the compressor, it should have a center that rotates on an off and you should hear a clicking sound. This is the compressor clutch you are looking at. If the compressor is not doing this, check the fuses for the AC. If the fuses are good, then most likely the high side sensor switch is not working, therefore the clutch never engages and the air never gets cold.

Try that and get back to me, ok?

How to change the fan belts on 1993 Nissan Quest Minivan

First go to Nissan's help forum page. Use this link: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/index.php

You can get a free login and download up to two files a day using the free login. You want the MA maintenance file of your vans manual. This will include the belt tensions and placement.
You will need to remove the plastic cover on the passenger side of the engine to be able to access the belt tensioners on the alt. and power steering pump. Nissan likes to use the same basic tensioners on most of their stuff. The air pump and air conditioner use idler pulleys, you loosen the bolt in the middle of the pulley enough to allow the pulley to move, no more. there is a bolt with its length toward the center of this pulley, when you loosen this bolt the pulley will start to move down and loosen the belt. repeat this process for both the air pump and the air conditioner. The alt. and power steering you loosen the bolt that secures the tensioner, than you can back off the long bolt in the tensioner to loosen and remove the belts.

I usually check each new built with the old one for length and label its sleeve by function as I take each one off. Makes matching them up when you put them back on much easier.

How do i replace an air conditioner belt on my 96 corolla?

First you must remove the alternator belt. Loosen the alternator bracket then the alternator tensioner bolt, and remove the alternator belt. Then you have access for the a/c belt.

Put new water pump on, cannot get belt back on

Unbolt the pulley from the water pump, slip the belt over everything and refasten the the pulley to the pump while the belt is draped over it. Then tighten up the belt.

How to change the Compressor and Alternator belts? Corolla 1997

First, you will need a lot of money. A GM air conditioner compressor is very expensive.

I would only let a qualified mechanic make this replacement.

After all, the compressor costs about 800 to 1,000 dollars. i would only trust a mechanic to work on my cadillac

Accessory belt replacement for 2001 dodge intrepid es

I have just replaced the belt myself. Loosen the nut slightly that holds on the AC belt idler pulley. I removed the fan assy for access room but maybe you have smaller hands than me. Down at the bottom of the AC belt adjustment assembly, there is a long adjuster bolt. I beleive that the head is 13mm on my 2001 Trep ES. This bolt head can be accessed at an angle thru the bottom using a long extension to loosen and tighten the belt. Remember to tighten the nut in the center of the idler pulley that you loosened before.
Remember SAFETY! Never get under anything that is not well supported. No jack is trustworthy.
