Update: Apparently there have enough complaints on this that the parts store gave me a newer style, smaller bodied gear reduction starter. It went in much easier.

Oldsmobile Bravada with V6. To get starter out first disconnect Battery. Then at passenger side wheel well unbolt wires, 9/16 and 5/16 sockets. Then under vehicle unbolt the 2 stabilizer bars running from the flywheel cover, 15mm at cover, 9/16 at engine block. I only had to remove the 9/16 on passenger side, bending down the driver side. Then remove bolts from the flywheel cover, 15mm and one Torx T40. In order to get the Torx bolt removed I had to drop the front driveshat, inverse Torx E12. I did not reinstall that bolt. Reinstall driveshaft. Now the flywheel cover will slide down just enough. It stayed in place resting on drive shaft and transmission lines. NOW unbolt starter, 9/16 socket. Please wear safety glasses, I only got hit once from the starter bolts but that was enough. Wiggle the starter back end up, clear flywheel cover then a lot more wiggling from there.

My son has a 96 blazer and I replaced the starter without loosening anything or lifitng the engine. From what I learned the trick is to un bolt it first then take the wires off from the wheel well and jiggle the starter out. Then when replacing it connect the wires first then bolt it in.
It is a snug fit though. when you unbolt it pull it out and then up and then down. Hope it helps a little, just take your time and you may need to remove the drivers wheel if you need more room to get to the wires to disconnect them.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe.

My96 olds. Bravada blinkers wont work, when i turn on either blinker all 3 brake lights in back blink on and off (like emergencey flashers are on)I replaced both flashers andhave no burned out bulbs

You are going to have to register on BBB INDUSTRIES
FREE Documentation site...

because... These are REAL GM drawings &
Technical Service Bulletins... (TSBs).

Get onto your SIGNAL/BRAKE Schematic Drawing
and figure out where your "SHORT" (cross-over) is

This is where the REAL technicians use tone tracers...
and open circuits to halves (50, 50) to isolate FAULTED CIRCUITS.

If you don't "open" the circuits... the tone will travel
everywhere... or no where.

1996 olds bravada won't start. Has new starter but we get interior lights and such, however the car won't turn over at all. What could be problem?

If you have burned or melted wiring, you need to fix that, first. Otherwise you might get an engine fire started and burn down the vehicle. I'd disconnect the battery till you get the wiring fixed.

Starter motor spins but no start

If the starter spins but the engine does not turn, either something is wrong with the flywheel, or the drive gear on the starter.
If the engine cranks but does not start, you will have to perform the usual tests for spark and fuel pressure.

My Bravada will not start and keeps blowing the crank fuse. Does anyone know what I need to do to solve this problem?

Find the starter relay, pull it. try to start the engine. if the fuse doesn't blow , replace the relay. If it still blows there is a short in the wire from the fuse to the relay. Check directly under the relay. this is where wires tend to break first.

96 bravada replaced fuel still no start runs with starter fluid

If your getting gas and spark get an obd 2 scan tool and check your mass air flow sensor. I had the same problem. If your having a problem with this vehicle always check the computer first; it will save you tons of headaches later.

Flasher button location in 1996 oldsmobile bravada

Do you mean the Emergency Flasher?

This is located on top of the steering column. Push in to activate. Push again to deactivate.

Some models also have the switch located at the 4 o'clock position of the steering column. Just below the starter key and a bit further back. It is round and black. There is a collar that moves around the button. Push in the center of that button to activate. Pull on the collar to deactivate.

Hope this helps.
