Question about 2000 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

My suburban suddenly would not start - no lights -

My 2000 suburban suddenly would not start - no lights - no radio-no power door locks etc... However, the lights under the side mirrors were blinking slowly and I could hear a "clicking" noise coming from the dash - much like the "burb" was trying to turn something on or off electrically. Do you think this is the battery or an electrical system problem? No previous problem starting.

Check your battery voltage for +12volts off, then have the battery load tested and see if its above 10 volts under load test,if it shows ok,then you may have a high resistance ground in the system that needs to be traced probably at the e.c.m. power because of the clicking it sounds like its going thru the self-test before it starts

In my 2000 volvo s80, the radio stop working and the door lock button and the dome lights are intermittent. I checked all the fuses and are all good.

Try resetting the electrical system by locking and unlocking the doors with your key in the driver's door 5 times in a row. A service manager at a Volvo dealer showed me this after they did some work on my car and on the way home the sunroof wouldn't close.

I have a 2001 S80 that I have to reset the electrical system like this every time I disconnect the battery. All kinds of stuff stops working...sun roof, door locks, lights, radio, windows, etc. Just reset like described and everything should start working again.

Good luck.

1999 GMC Suburban. no sound from radio

there is a plug at the back of the radio connecting it to the vehicle wiring loom. If you can get at thes plug, either from below or by removing the radio unit, make sure the plug is tight and secure. I can't think that the amp has gone or you would have lost all sound, so this is more than likely the problem.

GS400 Radio and etc.

check all the fuses.the radio is designed to stay on until you open the door once the vehicle is shut off ,so the radio and the locks are linked together.there is a low current 7.5 amp fuse or very close to that

Powere locks continuously lock and unlock with lights flashing, etc even when car is turned off.

Doors locking and unlocking, lights flashing. You have a possessed Suburban get a priest immediately! Or you have a short circuit. Try and remember if any work was done to your SUV and in what area. Then look for peeled, scraped or touching wires.

Lights go out on dash DIC

make sure you clean your positive battery terminal. It can be quite corroded in there without any outside signs. Next check ground connections (main ground is under the underhood fuse box...is it rusted down there? If it's none of those, start looking at the ignition switch.
