I recently purchased a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. As part of the purchase contract the dealership agreed to put in a new timing belt, as the one in the car had never been replaced when it was supposed to. Ever since they replaced it it idles really rough and "lopes" when stopped at a stop light. Only does this when in drive. Could this have anything to do with the timing belt not being installed correctly? The check engine light has not come on. I brought it back to the dealership and they supposedly rechecked everything and didn't find anything wrong but the problem is getting worse!

Hi! Its gonna be a simple fix. The timing belt has nothing to do with it, but I suspect the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. The MAF has big contribution on engine performance specially on the idling. Have it replaced and it it will be resolved. Hope this helps and have a good one!

How do I reprogram the key fob on my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe without having to pay the fee at the dealership?

Well, you basically have only 3 choices:
1. Pay the fee at the dealership
2. Purchase the high-dollar equipment that is required to perform the programming procedure
3. Forget about adding another key fob to tor vehicle.

My car a 2003 Hyundai Elantra broke down last Thursday 7/22/10 and the mechanic stated that I have a damaged timing belt and that the car would be ready on Wed July 28th. As of today 7/26/10 he still said...

Hi, it all depends on where he ordered the timing belt from. The distance of the place will definitely determine how long it will take for the arrival of the timing belt. You should give him a week maximum for the arrival of the item and if he fails to deliver and fix it, then you can start suspecting him..
Take care

'03 Hyundai Elantra - Keyless entry remote not working

It wouldn't be the car battery, but since you just purchased the car, the dealership should correct the problem. Bring it to their attention right away. Did you get any kind of warranty? Most dealers have at least a 30 day warranty for things like this.

Rear hub nut on a2003 hyundai elantra

Very wild guess. I replaced the bearings in my 2003, and was looking in my tool box. I came across a 1 1/4" socket that I purchased around the same time, but I realize that it should be the metric equivalent of this, so it probably did not fit perfectly. Metric conversion would be 31.75 mm.
