Turn your wipers on if they are slower than normal it is a battery problem it takes the amps to start these things and the wiper motor will draw a few so you can get a visual on the amps load

Sounds like a dead battery. However, I will tell you that these vehicles are very sensitive to voltage. Try cleaning the battery cables and tightening them properly.

My 99 chrysler lhs problem code p1792 has a charge battery but it won't start it only makes a clicking sound and won't turn on unless I give it a jump.

If it makes a rapid clicking sound when you turn the key, then the battery does not have enough power to turn the starter, fit new battery, after fitting battery start car and check alternator is charging properly, let me know how it goes

99 grand am was driving home battery was about to die so i tried to make it home before it died

Can't say what the thud was..but it certainly sounds like your alternator is not charging your system.. When it isn't charging and the car is running off the battery the car will do some weird things as it loses its.battery power then just die....Auto zone should have found that and not just charge the battery..get yourself a small car charger at autozone $25 -40 or so and charge it again and have them make a full charging system check..good luck..

Wont start but makes weird stuttering sound

Sounds like the battery is low on charge or is in need of replacement in most cases.
I would not change the starter until trying a new battery that is fully charged.

My 2005 Vette will not start. Battery is fairly new so should not be the battery? Any ideas as I have heard the 2005 vettes are notorious for not starting?

James,
I feel it is the bendex at fault. Bendex is a part of the starter motor that pushes the starter pinion to mesh with the flywheel and rotate it. If it goes bad then you just hear the click sound and the engine does not turn with the starter. It can be repaired if not badly damaged or replaced if badly damaged. Your mechanic will tell you the rest. The solenoid is working giving the click sound. It could also be the battery that has run down for want of charging from the alternator. This you can check by borrowing some one else's battery for a quick startup. Or jump start the car if you have another. If the battery is down then it is the alternator.

Wont start funny clicking sound when i turn the key ???

Hi!!

The clicking you are hearing, is the sound of a weak battery, Jump start the vehicle and take it to an AutoZone for a Charging System check.

Good Luck!!

99' Corvette will not start

If it's been sitting for a year without being started, I can almost guarantee the battery is dead. At the very minimum you are going to need to either have that battery charged or replaced. I would replace it if it was me, I'm not sure it will even hold a charge after that length of time unused. If the alternator was working properly before you parked the car, it's probably still ok. Nice car by the way, I had a Torch Red 98 Vette and now drive a 03 Anniversary Red Vette. Good luck.

I have a 99 Intrepid and it wont start. There is no power to the dash(nothing). Battery is 1 year, Starter new. With boost cables, dash lights up, but car only clicks.

battery is dead again let it charge longer then try it.
clean your cables and then have the alt and battery checked if they are both good then something is staying on like mine my brake lights stayed on once and killed the battery
good luck

Wont start

easiest: is the battery good?
not so easy: was it flooded enough that it could have sucked water in the intake and gotten into the cylinders? the engine could be seized if this happened.
